Souki - The Jack EP

After our first review of the debut Extended Play of Souki (Carina Lohmeyer) on Einmaleins Musik (Click here to check it!), it was pretty certain there would be just a matter of time until we found another release from her to confirm our bet and her immense potential. That release came again on Einmaleins Musik, one of our favourite labels, and it's name was "Monkey Sun EP". Unfortunately we didn't review it because it passed by somehow, however, now deserves some reference! With Souki sweet voice, clean and gasping bassline and a mumbling timbale, she produced a true minimalistic and powerfull driven track. So now, to honor her and minimaland as well, since we are really proud of "baptizing" her first release, we thought it could come handy to review her first release on Zaubermilch Records, run by Manou de Jean, wich in German means something like "clean milk", spelled in a crazy way. Well, since they're trying to re-invent the "pasteurizing" within the electronic music world, nothing better than picking such an awesome producer as Souki is and release a great EP with remix credits to Mr. Frank Martiniq, a producer we embraced since minimaland start, back in 2005.

So, presentations done, even if they're not really needed with this lady (in fact, we love her minimal style since the beggining), time to "drop the needle" and check out how these spicy condiments and ingredients sound together in this release.

"Jack", first track to be hit, in fact hits the listener. Hits and punches right on the chest, probably the weakest part! Starting with a fade up, haves as much of the right amount of bass as it haves of the perfect sound to be always skipping on behind, a very own Souki sound, corrugated and deeply dark with nostalgic feelings that go back to the beggining of underground electronic music. As it develops, each detail is kindly added in a subtle way, as always with Souki, with voices, reverbs, electronic little grasps and synth melodical patterns along the mesh. It seems simple but is in fact very hard to produce a track like this, so soothing and thunderous at the same time, revolving the listener in a one way path, embraced by all Souki's kindness and violence at the same time!

So, with a track like this, nothing better than calling Mr. Frank Martiniq to apply the remix it deserves and develop another view upon such a brilliant track from Souki. Applying some more layers of sounds and varying the bass to a mumbling pattern, Frank masters the illusion of making the remix of "Jack"seem another complete new track, just in the same level of quality and not distorting it too much while creating almost everything new. These are the kind of remixes we like and Mr. Frank deserves congratulations for this one.

Ending the EP, a more private side of Souki, with a heavy, dark and countoured bassline track followed by a distorted ancient organ sound, in a little creepy way, called "Nothing", so let's not forget Souki haves 4 faces! As the track evolves, we are kindly embraced by some ambience sounds, some espiritual sounds and some voices, relieving the heavy ambience while maintaining the same dark compass which creates something of a opposite forces struglling along it's evolution.

This is another brilliant masterpiece from Souki, confirming that sometimes is not the amount of releases, it's the quality each one of them possess individually! Also, let's not confuse Souki with Soukie (of Soukie & Windish), this Souki, the first one we met it's the true one and we're still in love with her productions overhere after 3 years passed.. And we kinda think we'll still be in the future... :)

Matt Star - Rhodesse EP

In 2011 there's a name that catched up our ears! It is Matthias Schildger (aka Matt Star), which seems to be one of the greatest talents coming from Offenbach (Frankfurt Am Mainz). Needless to say the connection between Offenbach and Electronic Music, it's only a question of naming the underground club "Live At Robert Johnson" and then things get more clear. Btw, Their Label is now about to release a special book in March with all the histories and important moments that marked the 13 years of Robert Johnson club in Offenbach, a probably not to miss one. In any case, it's Mr. Matt Star, also from Offenbach, that we have the pleasure of presenting today, probably influenced by the Offenbach scene during his growth and probably as well, influenced it in the last years.

Goes the story that Matt Star started playing in small parties at the age of 12, and besides his youth, there's no doubt that when the word quality is adopted, Matthias is really a Star! Clean and accurate grooves are his mark, but it would be pretty far any definition of his work just saying this, so, referring to releases on Cocoon, Meleon or Kling Klong will keep ideas more clear. He's also a master of the cadence and the hypnothic derivatives, making his productions being among the best (at least in our humble ears). After a perfect grooved track on Meleon's 3 year, a release intended to celebrate 3 years existence of Danjel's Esperanza label, we then focused our ears on him as a space radar looking for stars does. And it seems we found one.

This release, on Spur Recordings, a Italian based label that seems to start with the right foot, provides a glimpse of the kind of variation, clean cutted basslines and variable creative sounds Matt Star is capable, embracing the listener in a very spicy and smashing trip either on the groove frequencies or the harmonic details.

Naming the Ep, we have "Rhodesse", a 4 minutes track, Tribal and melodic paths within the rhythm are probably the best approximation to define it, and his clean bassline sticks to it like glue, a nice delight to hear in about any ambience!

Then comes "Im Garten" a nice experience in the spacy chords frequences, ripping and popping any dancefloor to another level. Die Haustiere vision applies a more rugged and violent bassline, keeping its dorsal spine, which again can only signify the quality of construction of Matt Star tracks.

"Matterdron", with Candy Csonka is just one of those you start listening and then kidnapps you to another world, maybe a better one, where deep senses, cadence and harmonic trips define the listener's horizon, being a little bit undefinable, which always means a really nice one! Finishing the row, we have Metrica remix, adopting a more heavy groove and space aged synthethizers which sound to things we've used to hear back in the end of 90's in the underground german techno/trance culture with a different approach and some boiling deep chords. It closes the release as a crown over Spur and Matt Star.

Desolat’s  third  edition  of  its  Christmas  sampler  is  a  bumper  tribute  to  a  year  of  fine  music, where undoubtly "Patio de Juegos" from Guti pinpointed the year  and  is  arguably  its  best  edition  to  date and in one of Desolat best years.  With  this  many  goodies  included, mirroring an incredible year for Desolat, you  won’t  need  to  look  under  the  tree  for  anything  else!

Desolat  assembled  some  stellar  talents  for  this  compilation, but even better, interstellar tracks starting with Desolat  co-owner  Martin  Buttrich himself, who  teams  up  with  Davide  Squillace  on  a  power  session  of  polished  grooves and xylophonic frequencies;  to  the  promising  pairing  of  up  &  coming  London  DJ  and  producer  Hector  with  Alexkid  on  a  slice  of  finely  observed  and  bittersweet  deephouse.  Rising  talent  Anthea, mostly known for tunes along with Alex Celler (Anthea & Celler)  also  makes  an  appearance,  offering  soul-drenched  vocal  shards  on  a  heart-breaking  experimental house  tune  by  versatile  Argentinean  Guti,  replete  with  addictive  bassline.  Reboot  steps  up  with  the  sprawling  and  catchy  14  minute  analogue jam  that’s  sure  to  slay  dancefloors not only in the silly season. If all the tracks and artists listed before already made it juicy, Reboot's "Daddy" is one of those tracks that usually sticks like glue in the listeners memory and never leaves again, thankfully due to a variable "flute", it's like we're the snake and Reboot haves the power to enchant. Perfect tune.

Two  tracks  are  aimed  especially  at  those  who  like  to  throw  shapes:  straight  outta  NYC, following  remarkable  releases  and  remixes  on  Shelter’s  Restricted  and  Un-Restricted  Access, Yoruba  or  Simple Sound,  Filsonik  comes  good  on  a  shimmying  jam  with  shades of  Chicago house,  while  Funk  E  steps  out  of  the  shadows  with  an  effervescent  cut  that  plays  with  hip house  and  electro  atmospheres.  Meanwhile  Danny  Ocean  returns  after  “Lights  In  My  Dark  World”  with  a  thoroughly  contemporary  and  elegant  take  on  some of  those  sounds  that  made  up  the  hey day  of  90's  techno. There’s  plenty  to  celebrate  round  the  Desolat  offices,  and  2012  looks  set  to  be  a  corker. 

After an excellent 2011, we can expect nothing less from Desolat!!

Even if lost in Christmas sweets, this is a release that deserved its proper space in minimaland suitcase. Highly recommended by its quality and variety of shakes and grooves!

Fifteen years of Drumcode shaking the electronic scene deserves a proper celebration! Mr. Adam Beyer, one of our favorite artists, delivers a gift that's supposed to be enjoyed by fans and listeners worldwide for this christmas!

”It‘s not an easy thing to do over a 15 year period—to maintain an interesting, updated formula of something you started fifteen years ago,” commented Adam Beyer on his label Drumcode in a recent interview. Since 1996, Drumcode has grown to become an institution in the global techno scene, encompassing a radio program, an event series, and, most importantly, a home for the musical vision of its artists and founder. First founded by Beyer to self-release his own records, Drumcode is currently placed alongside the most influential techno imprints, and ranked among the world‘s best. “15 Years of Drumcode” not only celebrates this legacy, it propels the label further with a fresh injection of new and unreleased tracks from some of techno‘s finest producers.

In typical Drumcode fashion, “15 Years of Drum- code” celebrates the past by focusing on the present. There are no throwbacks, rehashings, or even remixes of the label‘s classic tracks. Instead, the 28-track compilation showcases only the newest and most exciting work of Drumcode‘s current roster, cascading between tough, thumping techno and housier, atmospheric arrangements. Yet even with its heavy variety, each track displays the kind of no-nonsense attitude that has become a hallmark of Drumcode‘s sound.

Amongst the talent featured on the compilation include of some techno‘s undisputed heavy-weights, CLR boss Chris Liebing teams up with Brian Sanhaji on their stomping, warehouse-filling track “The Undertaking”. H-Productions founder Cari Lekebusch and Joseph Capriati collaborate on “Napoli 4 pm”, a hybrid tech-house track ondulating with bass and metallic effects. There‘s also appearances by Soma Records founders Slam, whose tracks “Temperance” and “Sonic Scuffle” bristle with momentum and straightforward velocity. Adding to the roster of talent on “15 Years of Drumcode” are tracks from Dustin Zahn, Gary Beck, Jesper Dahlback, label head himself Adam Beyer, and many others.

Slated for release in late November, with various vinyl issues during december, kind os as a nice christmas gift, “15 Years of Drumcode” will be celebrated with a concurrent album tour across Europe‘s most prominent clubs featuring headlining sets by Adam Beyer and other members of the Drumcode family. While there‘s certainly plenty for Drumcode to reflect on over

the past fifteen years, it‘s still the moment that counts!

Rob Small - Phased EP

Artform is founded by Jamie Anderson having in mind the idea of transmit their good vibe and the mission of this label is to bridge the gap between genres of electronic music by experimenting with fusing styles and developing new sounds. With this presets, Artform has new three tracks of rotational tech-house with producer and DJ Rob Small. Needless to say, Rob's DJ and producer career is the product of growth in the early '90s and being influenced by House & Techno dub background.

With only 20 years, Rob started with his own event called "friction", an event that happened in a club in Leeds in 2006, after the reputation growth with this actions, Rob was invited to join in 'Breakout audio Records Label, and the newfound passion for the industry triggered Rob’s enthusiasm for music production. In January 2009 his Detroit techno influenced ‘Torment EP’ was snapped up and released on Selektor Music which was later supported by the best. Rob Small from there went on to have a series of projections and remixes on various brands across the world, and is fast becoming one of the most exciting talents to recently emerge from the UK’s House & Techno scene. His style of Synthetic Techno and ‘Proper’ House Music dj sets has seen him devastate clubs the world over.

So, having said this, "Phased" comes with his particular sound, slightly acid, sub-bass ignited delight of electronic music, continuing to privilege Artform with a great release, playing an integral role in pioneering worldwide Tech-House phenomena.Droping the needle, appears “Phased”, naming the Ep and providing a balanced mix of old school techno snippets and a great tech-house groove, slightly mental and trippy. Dub version of “Phased” sounds a little more coherent and as well more “quiet” maintaining the same basics and comes as a great alternative to a set which is demanding some cadence in the sound path. Finally, with a little hand of Kyle Marshall, appears “Smoke & Ski”, a track with a great groove line, trippy semi-influenced Detroit organ sounds and a nice experience to warm some crowd into an introspective dance, mixing accurately old school in the claps and other details with the current bassline trends, creating a great mixture of both.Artform has accumulated more than a decade of Detroit Techno and Chicago House influencies, championed by the likes of Richie Hawtin, Sven Vath, DJ Sneak, Derrick May, Kevin Saunderson, Laurent Garnier and Dave Angel, a growth which finally outcomes in this Ep as a bright mix of their roots with a smell of present times attached to it.

There's releases that somehow are destined to meet us and not the reverse way. After a suggestion by someone I respect a lot, I gave it a try on soundcloud. Then, magically, Staar Wars EP entered and never left anymore. Even more weirdly, I was looking for more info on this masterpiece and it came to my surprise it was on my promo list! And well, after all these coincidences, it's really worthy of a good review here since it's a production so magnificent it would be a sin to let it go released without our kind word.

Following the much talked about ones on Japanese Endless Flight, Australian Future Classic, German Best Works, British Crosstownrebels, and Otherworldly Philomena – a string of tracks,

remixes, and releases of 2011 supported by Âme, Dixon, Damian Lazarus, Andre Lodemann, Soul Clap, Anthony Pappa, Sasha, Joakim and far too many others to mention, here comes brand new four track Staar Wars EP of interplanetary dance music by Mario & Vidis. Best Kept Secret is a label founded by Vidis to uncover & present the hidden sounds of Vilnius House scene and intends to release good secrets over next times!

Staar Wars EP is one of those releases we just feel proud to find. And we feel proud cause since the first play our ego goes high and we take music like this as if it was made for us specially, driving an appeal of love and emotion not easilly found anywhere. Yeah, we know we tend to use fancy words to describe an EP or a track, but, with this EP is different: I'm wordless.

All I can say it's that any listener will not feel that this was the result of some mouse clicking during a rage of inspiration.. yeah, maybe it's that also, but then adds all the ingredients that tend to divide a huge production from a collector's masterpiece. Still wordless, I'll just refer that every track is a storyline and the main actor is the listener, Manaan, as the name itself tends to describe, it's pure joy of God's feeding to mere human listeners, it's pure magic and shiny energy feeding anyone directly into the ears. What more we can say?? There's a player below just in case... :)

Danilo Schneider - Short Image In My Brain

There's releases that captivate us so deep, extend so much the barrier that just give us a glimpse of what trowns us into a spectacle of delight and enjoyability when we assume we're listening to an unforgivable release on a dancefloor. Thus, it doesn't come really new for us after the amazing "Hula Hoop Ep" by Eveline Fink, which I found out to be a quite delightfully balanced Ep on Enough! Records. Enough, convenient to refer, is under the shiny touch of Mr. Danilo Schneider, who couldn't prepare another thing to his own label except a "soup" of ingredients that start with himself and expand his achievement with this short image for our brains. To this image, he brings Jakob Seindesticker and with the mixture of both, Enough! is assuming a character of quality vs. quantity, saying enough to all the amount of music hitting the stores everyday, releasing only true masterpieces.
Saying this, Short Image In My Brain is just a must have on any collection that focus on relying in amazing Ep's, cause, yes, it's the wholy Ep, the whole release, that expresses the fact that all the tracks are exceptionally good, but, to start with, homonym named track opens it in a cozy fashioned way so grooved and sculptured that its just a matter of time to find yourself letting go with the mood. It produces a big image in your brain, tells a whole story of dub vibes and paradisiac looped bells that keep your mind moving and the feeling growing smoothly in a soothing way. Edit Suite pulls the strings to a delicate hypnotic state where a scattered bassline and a mumbling fusion of voice snippets with arythmic tinkling sounds keep on the cadence of the smooth groove lines on the base, resulting in a curdled pattern of hypnotic drive. Last but not least, the maestro Jakob Seidensticker changes evertyhing without changing nothing at all levels, producing a new image with the old brain, which means the remix captures all the best and adds an extra depth of touch detail, producing a masterpiece intrepretation.
Experienced ears will understand all the previous said, where these words don't cope with the feeling delivered in the moment the needle is dropped on the tracks.

A must have.

Pawn Shop People - Hometown EP

After releases on Blufin and Sleaze‘s sublabel Smut Music, Pawn Shop People finally deliver their debut for the Kiddaz Music Group and represents a good discovery for us.

Their sound represents cutting edge dance music, vibrating between techno and tech-house with a certain analogue & rough appeal that keeps driving listeners. .

“Hometown” comes in with hypnotic bassline, deep synths and a penetrating beat. Little bit dirty, techy and deep underground music that appeals to a mumbling pattern of rhythm which embraces a nice journey of 4/4 mood. “Streetsmart“ appears with a rough drumming code combined with dark vocal drops and snippets, wrapped into Chicago‘s old school sounds while embracing some minimalistic pulpy hi hats that get side along perfectly with the groove working on the base of it, revealing as a good uplifter to any dancefloor. youANDme, who recently released a huge record on Cocoon and their own imprints, delivered an amazing 16 minutes rework, offering a complete new and heavy vision of “Streetsmart”, where techno is the basis for a dark trip around an interconnected mesh of delusive sounds that add some experimentation, brilliantly sending us back to old days of soulfull dark techno.

Seidensticker & Salour - Katzenjammer EP

Seidensticker & Salour (Jakob Seidensticker & Bardia Salour) are a name that’s becoming really familiar to us. Or, well, maybe is just our ears that are becoming enlightned by its intrincate and energized tapestry of sound construction, who knows, is just something that is explained perfectly looking upon a fast backward to these both artists biography.

While Bardia is a local hamburg dj and music connoisseur with great influence on the whole hamburg scene for years now, Jakob Seidensticker is a essential part on the internationally respected Wareika trio, releasing in labels we love and as known like Perlon, Circus Company, Eskimo and being well acclaimed internationally.

After Dj'ing in various clubs and locations , they have finally found their base at the'fulmina

nt' EGO club in hamburg where they share their tracks with other Dj's and the ass shaking crowd in general. One thing is for sure, Seidensticker & Salour's track selection and their dub influenced sound have been known to satisfy all hedonistic impulses one may have.

The duo have recently started a party called 'Dance For Fans' in hamburg. The concept is for a range of local events to spread innovation into the local club environment and inside clubbers into a new vision .

After their releases on Einmaleins Musik & FormResonance the two tracker "Katzenjammer is the next step.

..And this is what we consider a good release, the mythical convex of underground and

its definite search between labels and real artists. This connection between URSL Records and the magic cadence of the duo results in rare release combining a taste of deep appealing and „sexy“ grooving in a musically shaped tapestry that defines all their productions and enriches any listener’s experience. It’s not supposed to be a mere music, it’s supposed to be a all-in melodic trip, a delicate „enchantément“ of cadency trough fusions and snippets that outcome to become real music, which defines real musicians.

"Early in the morning " is pure deepness art and a perfect, delightfull listening, ready to take the ears by its gentle touch and keep pushing forward to a pretty quiet and blissfull trip along the way, translating itself as the official soundtrack to any warmup or enjoyable after-party as its name says!

"Midnight Tar" is brilliant crescent, growing cadenced music, or defining it better, -something never fair-, a peak galloping track, in a cresty chrome of a delusive and charismatic cyclic sound, fusioning different instruments that create a personality unique which outcomes as a bomb with understatement.

This music with sensuous melodic and harmonious sounds are of gentlement to gentlemen. From music lovers to lovers.

Patrick Zigon’s "The Alpha State" is a return to his Slovenian origins and roots, releasing it through Danza Macabra Records, a collaboration that begun with remixes for Danza Macabra duo (Martin Rojnik and Edin čuturić ) and became a strong friendship since they’re bonded not only by their fellowship roots but also by common thoughts and essence about the surrounding world.

“Alpha State” can be defined as an hypnotic guide through his deep and colourful world of electronic music. After many years of heavy releasing and remixing, Patrick took a time-out, locked himself into his studio to reinvent himself and putted all his clear energy and creativity into his very first artist album. More than one year of hard work, sleepless nights and extensive sound design resulted in a thrilling journey of overall 13 tracks, and a tight bond connection with Patrick’s creativity in a live-act on stage. Call it Patrick’s first intentional musical monument which came after several years of hard work till the point of a zenith on his career. A work he decided to call “Alpha State”.

Round, complete, meshed up in a sublime frequency of rhythms and grooved ranges, denoting an upper level quality in production frequencies only to be achieved by a few bunch of producers. Every play, every rhythm, intends to transmit something, defining an essence of soul and a glimpse of perfection. It covers a boiling harmony, a detailed texture that speaks

directly to extreme inner senses and awareness, brilliantly produced, patterned and detailed, therefore, a pleasure every time “play” is pressed. Senses and feelings are veined in a cushioned crystalline sound all around the album, an iridescent level of the “Alpha State” Patrick’s achieved during his closing and meditation that resulted in this masterpiece of art. An amber feeling emanates, and the polished final result outcomes as one of those that fit the bag of the best dj and the home of the simplest listener easily, and that’s the tiny line which normally separates an ordinary work from a masterpiece.

The way it haves a track for each mood, each one on its patterns and voyages, spatially fitting any place, anyone, anywhere. Thumping and roaring basslines embrace delicate melodies, as well as clashed snares and hi-hats recycle and intricate continuously with sinuous patterns of low frequency construction, where perfection seems an easy word to apply when describing it. It’s as if we could transform sounds in odours, in senses, in feelings, where a fresh scent perfume can be felt through a higher state of consciousness spiritualism, feeling achieved as long as it slowly starts to work all around sensibilities and emotions, characteristic shaped by a clear creative intention of taking things to another level. Even after many listening sessions it’s possible to find something new and exciting, appealing deeply inside inner senses. The tricky live drums of The DisDrumMachine and the German voice of Goldkehlchen that make this album the most artistic piece of music to date on Danza Macabra Records, but also Patrick’s ever-loved collaborations with co-producers and friends like Paulo Olarte, Mark Ash and Sven Palzer. David Mayer - Moment EP

No better title than "Moment" to name this EP. We've been already following Keinemusik for a while in soundcloud, and after our post absence over this last year, we were just expecting the right moment to refer this wonderfull label. So, the moment is now!

By the hands of David Mayer, who released the first Keinemusik and on other labels like Paso Music, we were just thinking "right, this guy haves everything we like, let's expect the right time to promote him a little", and, it seems this is the right moment to do it!

What a release!! It only haves two tracks, but both of them are complete masterpieces! Who likes big kicks, clean cuts and lots of personality in a track, well, this is the right release! There's something about this release that makes it very personal on the first listening. It attaches immediately to your ear and the it's really a hard task to press stop, it's only repeat, repeat, repeat!! Its very wide and there's defintely a clear protruding of charisma emaning from it. First track, "Moment" it's clearly a veined "tech-trippy" track, streamlined along detail and contoured details, it haves a depth of groove very hard to describe. Please hit "play" on the player below to understand what I'm referring to. and please... enjoy the moment!
As we flip side, there's "Word is Bond", and this is the point we really consider David has something clear when naming a track, this means since the beggining the track was already baptized! What better name to this track other than "Word is Bond"? Yes, there's a old school vocal, working along the track, rolling along the groove, connecting, reminding, pointing a direction to the end. And 'till the end is a complete delight of melodious catch, bubbling hats and deep grooves.
But there's notting better than checking for yourself and give it a listen. I ensure it'll make your day, it made mine!

Rodriguez Jr. - Bittersweet EP

Released in the 5th of September of 2011, among so much good stuff arriving our headquarters this month, we almost forgotten to mention this amazing release that's supposed to be a glimpse of Rodriguez Jr. first album, also on Mobilee.

From Mobilee, needless to say, established by Anja Schneider and runned by Anja herself and Ralf Kollman, nothing except quality in every release. It's one of those cases where you see it coming and think "this is damn good" when you didn't even listened to it! From the roost we can mention Pan-Pot or Sebo K, but that's only a minor detail, it's indeed a label we cherish alot overhere. They have their way of doing things, and that way is quality, charisma and essence!

So, applying more words about Rodriguez Jr., Mobilee or anything related to this crew is just wasting letters and space overhere, there's not even the need to reinforce all our thinking about all this.

"Bittersweet" EP is here to remind Us there's a big album on the way, and what better way to remind than releasing some very nice tracks to put some "pepper" on the teaser stuff? It's not bitter, can assure that, it's more sweet "á la Rodriguez Jr." way! "Bittersweet" works pretty well, teases everything in a soft and smooth way, one of those tracks simply perfect to began with. Then comes "Music Don't Lie feat. Cari Golden", and well, them both don't lie about the fact Rodriguez Jr. is on a good peak of production and that Cari Golden is becoming one of the most sensual and smoothful piercing voices on the scene, undoubtly! Then comes "Massilia", maybe my pick from this EP, so beautiful, so polished and sculptured among mid synth frequencies that deliver a trippy happiness feeling, resuming, one of those to keep an eye in the sun rising! To close this "teaser" in the better way, why not "Bagpipe Woman", to joke a little bit on the scene and just put a deep smile on your face? Let's face it, an amazing and round release, featuring a sexy voice... no more words needed about this!

If you're into powerfull and uplifiting stuff, this is the man you have to put an eye on!

Michael Knop, after two releases with our friends at Meleon, now delivers this techno sided production on one of our favorite labels: Resopal Schallware! What to expect from this "young promise" and such a label? Nothing except huge loads of quality and mumbling sounds, booming anything since you it play button. Full of soothing sounds and wicked grooves, this is the right release to look for when the crowd still haves some good leg energy to spend in a powerfull journey!

So, coming down to the tracks, first, "Drop In" does what you expect after some time, really drops in huge loads of bassline. wicked. Second track, "this Night" makes things more classy style, still that Knop bassline (will call it like that from now on), heavily compressed keeps on the base to all the track progression and construction, whooping a listener with it. So, nothing better to the end of this EP than "Over and Over".. yeah, Knop Bassline over and over, heavy, destructive and outragiously bubbling, keeping the listener energized over and over, not giving any chance. That's how things work with Michael, there's no mercy, once you start, you just cannot stop and make a weak chin.. Proper Techno release.

Damian Lazarus is a visionary, a caped crusader for underground music with an eye for detail and an ear for true talent. Since cutting his teeth as music editor at Dazed & Confused, to his days as A&R at legendary London imprint City Rockers spotting the likes of Felix Da Housecat and Tiga, through to more recently introducing Seth Troxler, Jamie Jones and Art Department to the world via his Crosstown Rebels imprint, Lazarus has continually shaped the face of underground dance music as we know it.

Marc Antona - Rules Of Madness

It's been a while.. Hi there!

So, nothing better to mark my "post return" than this amazing first album by Marc Antona on his own imprint, Dissonant Records!

We became astonished by this album, such a masterpiece is a rare achievement. Well, in fact, it doesn't really surprised us, Marc's movements and way of doing things around this "scene" are undoubtly class A ones. He were already followers of a label he had a finger on, "Micro-Fibres", and if there was a thing that really differenced that label was the quality of the releases. Names like Re-Up were raisen in those headquarters of quality productions and this was a characteristic that always surrounded Marc and all his efforts. Doesn't need a mention as well his impressive live performances and the way some of his charisma becomes clear in all his productions and his huge support from "Mr Cadenza" himself, Luciano.

However, it seems that on this label project, Dissonant, also run by him, as if quality wasn't enough, there's even more quality in every release! Since it "opened doors", we've been cherished with amazing releases by Marc himself and Re-Up (aka OEL & Polygon) that were among the best releases and played until vinyl was wasted by big names.

So, coming to what matters, away from lots of words, here's our consideration on this release. It's absolutely a dancefloor killer, uplifiting tribal mumbling patterns and lots and lots of energy to deliver along some cadence that just adds excellence. If U're a dj, ready to hit a dancefloor and put all the people jumping and smiling, this is the right weapon for you! It haves other moods, this is a very round album, and in all the frequency achieved, it's only a matter of picking the one that you feel suitable! If you follow us, for sure you'll have one in this album!

So, in the end, driving yourself to a powered listening, we refer "All against the law", "Crunch To Pulp" or "Fast Track". If you wanna play more deeply, then you have "Illegal", "The Hammock Spider History" or "Last Taboo".

Anyway, there's one for everybody and in the end, any of them are just brilliant masterpieces. It was undoubtly, one of the best albums that reached our hands.

The producer from Glasgow, Andy Graham debuts on International Dj Gigolos with a high intensity record. I’ve been following the producer’s career for quite some time and this EP confirms all my expectations. “Chinese Whispers” goes around dark environments and deep beats and I have no doubt that every dancefloor will appreciate this tracks. The a-side is a “super late night Electro tinged Techno, dark oscillating bass colliding with mysterious female vocals for a serious trip”. Perfect rhythm to be spread in the night times. On the flipside “My Montage” forggets the dark patterns and explores some morning feelings. The beat keeps deep and dark but some “luscious posh trance tinges and urgent synths” turn this track into a track that can become unforgetable, if played in the proper place and time! High rated EP, one of the best releases I’ve listened from Gigolo in a long time (Along the Peter Kruder ones).

Roland Appel – Snow in the Spring Time

Roland Appel started producing music and spinning records in the early nineties. He was a member of Fauna Flash ( together with Christian Prommer ) and the Trüby Trio (with rainer trüby + Christian Prommer ). They successfully produced 3 studio albums. In 2002 he released one album with his Peter Kruder and another with Christian Prommer – Voom:Voom .With every project he toured the world and playing clubs and festivals from Montreal Jazz Festival, Sonar Festival to Fabric London, New York, Berlin and Tokyo.

From 2004 to 2006 Roland lived in Paris, France. During this time he started to write music for his solo career which quickly gained an international following. In 2006 returning to Munich / Germany he teamed up with engineer Jan Krause to start recording once again. Whether Roland incorporates an accomplice or is at it solo, there’s hardly a dull moment in the studio or on stage. Roland Appel captivates his audience by combining the integral influences of Detroit techno, folk, disco all the way to soul and house.

One of the most in demand tracks from the ‘All Night Long’ album, ‘Snow…’ gets a full single release as a result of the huge response from disco heavyweights Horse Meat Disco, who took the time to contact us to tell us how much they love it. Old school disco in every way, certainly not ‘space’ and nothing ‘nu’ about it.. DFA darlings Runaway turn it in a slow burning house direction that builds the tension until every last drop is wrung out in a sweaty pool on the dance floor. Nice.

Minimaland Feedback: “Snow in the Spring Time” really deserved a full single release and Aus music didn’t forgget it… this is one of the most exciting tracks of the last years and this Ep marks it as a symbol of the electronic nowadays scene. The runaway remix in the b side add’s it a deeper sensation, turned up to minimal flavours, just as we like it here. Loved it!

Paul Kalkbrenner - Berlin Calling Vol.1

Berlin Calling is undoubtedly part of the film highlights of 2009. Hannes Stöhr’s fictitious drama based around the up-and-coming Berlin musician and Toxicomaniac Ickarus skillfully distances itself from ‘hip’ biopics and instead offers one hundred percent of authenticity and classic storytelling. What is surprising is the ease and the speed with which the dramatic – and even in parts tragic – story is presented. This balance act succeeds not only with images, but also with Paul Kalkbrenner’s congenial soundtrack accomplishes that feat effortlessly. Finally, after the “hymn” Sky and Sand, comes the second release as a 12” EP. Thematically, the title song is closely related to Sky and Sand, and the three tracks form an absolutely harmonious trilogy, not only perfectly transporting the film’s atmosphere, but actually generating it on their own. Even if you don’t know the images, you will soon get the impression of a subliminal, compulsively seething energy – and at the same time that of devouring emptiness, cycling faster and faster around aimlessness.

Danny Fiddo and Affkt – El Prologo (Remixes Pt 1.1)

Today we present to you a new label, Barraca Music from Spain… I became aware of them when they released “Bank Brotherhood Ep“, their latest work developed by Los Updates and Ricardo Villalobos… but today I’m here to talk about their best work untill now… “El Prologo remixes” headed by Luciano, Villalalobos and Radio Slave. The original tracks were featured in Barraca’s first release and to make it unforgetable nothing could be better than inviting the Chilean crue to perform some remixes. In the A-Side you will listen “Ricardo Villalobos Una Puta Mas Atras Remix”, a 15 minute long length track very typical on his creations where deep percussions, minimal sense and appealing melodies combine perfectly. I promise you won’t get tired of this one in the whole 15 minutes of it. Amazing! In the B-Side there’s “Falto Pepico Luciano remix”, another massive production. If you’re one of the people who believe that “minimal” really does exist among the electronic music movement this is one of it’s best prototypes, 4by4 rhythm, huge percussions, again appealing melodies and some hand picked loops turned this track into a dancefloor turn-on! As I usually say when I listen Luciano or Villalobos productions: “This is minimal!”. If you buy the Ep digitally you’ll have a third track, a “El Prologo” remix by Radio Slave, very groovy with a great deep mnml rhythm where Radio Slave clearly tried to follow the patters of the Chilean producers. El Prologo remixes will be complete when the second delivery sees the light. For that release the chosen artists will be Mathias Kaden and Inxec so… stay tuned!

Despite being the first Lauhaus Ep that we post, we’ve been following his career for a long time, this Dj and Producer creates dedicated music and his Dj sets are some of the best ones you can listen. Laurens Lanting aka Lauhaus is also one of the parts of the duo Polder, highly known by their famous album Poldermodel and this solo Ep proves all his quality. This producer from the Netherlands presents three amazing tracks that will have a tremendous effect among underground crowds. His deepness his something that we definitely appreciate and you will be able to confirm it when you listen this release. The first track “Latenights” is a guaranteed dancefloor igniter with it’s deep beat and incredible tech-house rhythm. A flawless track that will make the dancing people go crazy. Lauhaus bounce it again in the b-side track “Newe Welle” surfing through even more deep dark waves, not as techy as the other but with far more soul… it’s a perfect one for our kind of style and the one that makes us astonished here at the land. Each night before bedtime, Freedarich & Stiggsen turn into two giant, radioactive ants. There they are then, obviously enjoying their facet insect eyes. And sometimes, their own ant’s sound inspires them to produce techno music. When Freedarich & Stiggsen want to go out, they turn back into Bohemians again, in order not have to party all alone due to Berlin’s mean bouncers. With their first release on Areal, Friedrich Greiling & Steph Sandeck have come up with a double-A-side. Both sides do not hesitate, they simply take you on a trip. So we had no option but to let the dice decide.

Minimaland Feedback: What a promising start for this duo, Freedarich and Stiggsen are an incredible mysterious surprise, this Ep is a new breath of fresh air through the scene. “Lago”, the first track is a beautiful combination of different pleasures, a melody that will tear you apart, really well created reminding me some of the best times of trance music, the deep beat will complete it for you, if you like music with feeling this is your best choice for this month… fly, fly away. I must confess I can’t stop listening it…! The other one is “Candide”, a darker deeper track that will lead you into a trip through the most rough sides of electronic music. Maybe the most surprising release I’ve listened in the last times, I’ve already bought it, i just hope some of you will do the same…

Wagon Repair’s first release past the 50 benchmark offers a look at long time partner Hrdvsion’s latest works of chopped melody and effervescent invention. Opener ‘The Mohana’ explores a central chord progression with intermittent squeaked melodic static, reverberant pad echoes and crisp swinging percussion. A pragmatic animal, dueling hook lines dance, transform and compete for attention between pounded kick and hat in one of Hrdvsion’s most floor ready tracks to date. Fresh in the aftermath of new summer baked Cobblestone Jazz material, Mathew’s refined combination of unearthly melodic twists and floor friendly percussion is back, offering a darker and deeply personal perspective to his unparalleled output. Opener ‘Walking On The Hands That Follow Me’ stalks with foot stepped bass and rapid fire hat as subtle wisps of melody approach from afar. Deep and nightmarish, a staccato affected confessional vocal pierces the mix as a chilling pad blows an icy wind to make your hair stand on end. Ever cinematic, this vertigo inducing composition is among Mat’s most seductive and eerie. On the flip, ‘When Loves Feels Like Crying’ tugs with crisp melodic sentiment to a calm percussive motion. Minimaland Feedback: Gathering Mathew Jonson and Wagon Repair could only be awesome! This release is all about perfection and feeling. A side made to trip, B side to fall in love (or out of it), to cry, to think, to want… I know this track for a long long time, from a few Jonson’s set and i just can’t stop listening it. Must buy Ep!

Bond & Blome - Ghost Story

What could be better than uniting Mr Benno Blome and Jens Bond to perform? This are easily two of my favorite producers united in one of the best labels of electronic musical history – Sender Records. If most of the ep’s that are being released are suited to Summer grooves, this one transcends any season with some dark spooky environments being transmitted in the two tracks. In the A side you will listen a “Ghost Story” filled by mysterious voices able to frighten you in a lonely dark night… the music is very well build, it has a groovy beat and the sample choices are very adequate to the theme of the Ep. In the b-side there’s “This Way We Play”, another dark track, not as groovy as the first but quite more deep and minimal, transmitting again the feeling that you are entering into some kind of twilight zone. Easily my favorite track of the Ep. Prepare yourself for some scary moments… a production that will have tremendous success during hard night environments.

Extrawelt - Deine Beine

Extrawelt (Arne Schaffhausen and Wayan Raabe) are undoubtedly one of best things I’ve listened my entire life! Their past influences based on Progressive Trance can be the cause, as I too, enjoyed some of those moments where they were known as Midimilz. Still, their sound is clearly different from the average, charging it with tremendous emotions and a respectable knowledge on what concerns to music production – the best example of this fact is their album (Schone Newe Extrawelt) that was posted here during October where they’ve shown all their skills. Now they are back, this time on Traum to deliver an inspirating Ep. The first track of “Deine Beine” is the one that marked me the most… “Mit Liese Auf Der Wiese” transmits such an incredible feeling that It’s difficult to explain, a smooth beat followed by melancholic chords that keep growing and growing making you wonder how beautiful and penetrating this style of music can be. After this one comes “Clap’s Cally” with it’s hypnotic chords, 4by4 rhythm and low synths… a great tool to be spread during night. “Was Ubrig Bleibt” finishes the Ep in great harmony and a sense of enjoyability and kindness floating around deep dub patterns.

Definitely, one of the best works I’ve listened the entire year…

Moodymanc - Seedz

The vinyl-focused, shrink-wrapped, limited-edition, coloured vinyl Tsuba offshoot Tsuba Colours returns after the triumphant debut of label-boss Kevin Griffiths’ “Cantona Kung Fu” earlier this year – this time, it’s Moodymanc with “Seedz”.

Otherwise known as Dubble D of 20:20 Soundsystem, Moodymanc aka Danny Ward is the real deal. A jazz drumming, house music obsessive he has toured live, DJ’d the world over and is now carving an impeccable reputation as Moodymanc. With releases scheduled for Third Ear, Dessous and Connaisseur to name but a few, his reputation looks unlikely to be shaken, too.

First though, his input for the Tsuba offshoot deserves our attention.”Seedz” combines tribal drums, delicate keys and subtle horns in fine style, referencing the best of New York house while remaining modern in feel. No loop-driven drum assault, “Seedz” is a carefully structured slice of deep house.

B-side cut “Thumbs Up” goes south with a latin/afrobeat house direction. Carnival drums, FM bass and an unrelenting drive do the work while low-in-the-mix filtered loops ebb and flow throughout, adding the sort of melody the lazy among us would characterise as summery.

For the digitally inclined there’s a bonus drum dub of “Seedz” which will please the tinkering-jocks out there so all in all this is another strong release for the fledgling offshoot which seeks to satiate lovers of house in all formats.

Hugo - Stel and Stan

Tuning Spork is clearly becoming one of my favorite labels, their have been doing a great work this year and today I present to you their latest Ep. The original “Stel and Atan” was first released back in 2007 and now, after two years, label founder Jay Haze felt it was time to do the proper revisit of this sort of neglected bomb! So, both Haze and Hugo produced two new versions of the track. The A side is the “S Ivory Pleated Pants Remix”, by Hugo, a funky deep minimal house tune with a great bass line and a hot groovy rhythm that will leave the dancefloor swaying under the moonlight. Next comes Haze with his “S Iridescent Spandex Remix) bringing the track to a deeper level turning this monster into a minimal tech turn on! The rhythm is near to perfection along with the bass variations.. After his great mix for Fabric, Hazy continues to surprise us, we really support his work and we honestly think that his productions keep getting better.. this is a track to be appreciated by… appreciators! Hugo and Haze showing the people what minimal grooves are all about.

Mathias Mesteno - In Laws

I think Minimaland has already showed all their love for Upon You releases. Almost every one of them have the ability to surprise us and even if we expect the very best from this label, their rarely let usdown. This is the 2nd time we present a Mathias Mesteno work and if you liked the last one you’ll surely like this! The Ep is composed by three amazing tracks starting with “Andrea” a deep tech house seductive production where a heavy bassline and some high fashion loops (very similar to Detroit’s style) stand out! This track has a growing pattern since it starts and it will easily be a major hit in the dancefloors. After Andrea, Mesteno present us “Bettina”, a quite more pumpy lad making us remind some typical Masomenos or Kreon & Lemos productions with a high pumpy beat and some jazzy loops that fit perfectly in it. The tech house rhythm marks presence in this one again imputing itself like a fingerprint of Mesteno’s music. “Melinda” closes this fabulous Ep in a great way, this one is a more mysterious one where you listen the first minute and you still can’t imagine what’s coming out of there. Well, I won’t ruin it for you but I can tell you that this is a deep delicacy, typical on Upon You, in those kinds of tracks that keep getting up and down always creating an enormous urge to dance. Another must have production, buy it and keep it like gold cause you can’t get much better than this.

Plasmik - Colors EP

The Berlin based Brothers Roman & Marcel are back with their first release during 2009, launched by Connaisseur, Recordings as usual. This might be their greatest Ep till date and was already supported by Lee Jones, Gabriel Ananda, Solomun, Shinedoe, Masomenos, Eyerer, Brendom Moeller and Luke Solomon among others. In fact this work contains three great grooves that go around some deep Detroit house and minimal techno. The Ep starts with “Night Bell” with a 4by4 old school rhythm and some neurotic patterns that will make your brain trip during all the way of this one. All the tracks that have “Bell” on their name usually are like this: psychotic, trippy and really acid! Next is “Sneeky Dee” in a far more relaxed rhythm, more inclined to deep house roots but that fast turn into a tech house track. It has a great bassline and the construction on this one is simply amazing, in the beginning there’s only the beat but things start to show up forming an incredible tune. I can see this rising up the moods of night and after-hours crowds. “Red Tension” ends this production in a great way. It is the track with the strongest musical approach, where Plasmik stop to be random producers and transform themselves into something more: musicians. It has a great deep rhythm, with some jazzy instrument in the back like the piano and the sax and a beautiful sound universe stepped up by an amazing percussion, building up a perfect journey. Outstanding release.

Robag Wruhme - Abusus Adde

Gabor Schablitzki aka Robag Wruhme is one of our favorite old school producers and one of the guys that I’ve first started to listen among this musical genre. His Ep’s on Music Krause made me realize that this was the next step, this is was the true Dance music! Now, after a few years he still continues to do amazing productions like this one that was released by Vakant a few days ago. Abusus Adde is composed by three very good tracks that were already supported by Sacha Funke, John Tejada, Ellon, Anthony Collins, Magda, Slam and Raresh… It all starts with “Hodgkin Mopp” a tripadelic minimal long length performance that goes around a fascinating melody and a wicked beat typical on Robag’s productions. Next is the disturbed “Ruptur Oing” that will captivate you by it’s fascinating deep lines and the step by step construction. A powerful dark tool to use in night clubs! To finalize the EP appears “Fufo2″, a track interlaced between dubstep beats and minimal constructions showing another side of this guy that we also appreciate a lot! A track to start a set or to end it… Robag isn’t a “normal” producer, his tracks are genuine, now it’s up to you to like it or hate it.

Veitengruber - Bon Melange

In the 21st release of the aclamated 8bit – owned by Mr Nick Curly – a new producer appears in the scene… this Mannheim based artist “Veitengruber” 1st release is really an well acomplished one composed by two original tracks and two remixes propered by Afrilounge and Liapin. The Ep starts with “Bon Melange”, a quite seductive track with a clean 4by4 beat full of quality and good taste, a great percussion and a construction that suits well to 8bit (and Curly’s) style. Next is “Big Love” a deep turn on with one of those step by step constructions that drives the crowd insane. All the elements seem to fit perfectly in the track and i think you’ll really appreciate it. The melody is wicked, reminding me some Kreon & Lemos productions, very relaxed with warm chords bringing you into the right mood for summer. In the b side you will be able to listen an Afrilounge version of Bon Melange full of minimal inputs and deep lines… a strong deep pumping track properly made to night clubs and really good soundsystems . To end up this pack Liapin also shows up with a remix of the same track (digital version only)… he is part of Afrilounge trio and on this solo version he shows all his inherent potential with a neurotic procedure of minimal exquisite good taste. This is an EP that you must know about, 8Bit continues to deliver in quite good style with flawless productions.

The Trapez limited series are back again, this time with a British producer - Blind Minded - bringing us an outstanding work with two top tracks. The first delicacy starts with a 4×4 dry beat and some neurotic sample. It gets even more interesting when the vocals show up… the guy speaking seems to teach us something about how to produce a music, just showing how easy is to produce a good track (is it really that easy?). B side bring us Clap in Time, a tribal step by step minimal track, typical to listen at the best clubs and that will work perfectly in the houses with those perfect sound systems. The jazzy inputs work beautifully and the bassline demands dancing! Trapez showing once again top choices with Blind Minded. Clean release, not a blind bet!

Moritz Piske - Real One Ep

Producers from Berlin always have a special kind of way of doing things… when I started to listen this Ep I rapidly thought that Moritz Piske should be from this amazing city, the way he constructs a certain pattern or how he inputs in the music such variations of bassline are typical from there. In fact this is the 2nd work I listen from him, both released by Opossum Records, one of my favorite labels during this recent years. Moritz present us two quite good tracks starting, in the A side, with “Real One” that was charted by Sweet N Candy as his favorite choice for April… why? Cause it got flow, a great bassline and a seductive pumpy feeling. A real turn on! In the B side there’s “Cant Keep”, with a step by step construction, some marvelous bass variations and a schizophrenic vocal sample. A typical Berlin all-minimal track, just as we like it here. Top class release, Opossum Records brings quality into a scene that sometimes seems to be overcrowded. Highly recommended.

Moonbeam - When Tears Are Dropping From the Sky

The Russian duo Moonbeam composed by Pavel Khvaleyev and Vitaliy Khvaleyev are back to Traum, after almost a year to release a quite good Ep. Their sounds are quite unmistakable and are marked by some progressive beats always going under outstanding basslines while a few melodies float on the air. And this is, again, what they came to show at Traum Schallplatten. The first tune “When Tears Are Dropping From The Sky” is the most proggy one, reminding me some psychedelic tunes that I listened a few years ago… this really is a track for all of you to close your eyes and feel it… i bet this will gain an extra dimension on open air partys. Next comes “Chirpy” engaging into a more disturbed path, more suitable to minimal techno horizons. It’s another monster one already charted by many Traum djs and my favorite of the Ep. To finalize this terrific work comes “Otaria Ursina” with some gentle melodies to be appreciated in a sunny morning party. Traum releases usually are above the average and this one proves it.

Berghain 03 - Part II

Following the huge success of Marcel Dettmann, OstGut Ton brings you ‘Berghain 03′ by Len Faki at the end of april 2009. Before the CD hits the shop, the label releases two 12″s featuring the exclusive material of Len’s mix, which, of course, is too good to keep it from DJs all over. In Detail, ‘Berghain 03 - Part I (o-ton 22) contains tracks by Tony Lionni and Radio Slave, ‘Berghain 03 - Part II’ (o-ton 23) contains tracks by Edit-Select and Len Faki himself.

Edit-Select is both label and music project of Scottish DJ Tony Scott, who might also be known for his releases as Percy X on Soma since the mid 90s. Two years ago, he spectacularly managed to reinvent himself as Edit-Select. Nearly all of his new minimal techno tracks have been played and charted by respected Djs such as Luciano, Ben Klock and Richie Hawtin. His exclusive contribution ‘Bauer’ to ‘Berghain 03′ features a stoic rhythm, sparse, but very effective sci-fi tricks and a stretched, standing pad turning the track into a hypnotic monster tool for the wee hours.

Of course Len Faki himself would not miss the chance to contribute an exclusive track to his own mix CD. ‘BX 3′ is one of those typical Faki productions, which, after a tension building prelude, draws on an abundance of resources: alarm sirens, white noise, a massive kick drum. One can literally feel Faki’s awe-inspiring, baroque joy of exploiting what’s possible.

Reboot - Ronson Ep

Frank Heinrich aka Reboot is a producer that Minimaland has never mentioned till this date. Despite that fact he is one of the most promissing producers in the tech house scene having previously released some Ep’s on famous labels like Cadenza Records and now, for the second time, he shows up on Cocoon Recordings new edition to deliver a brilliant piece of genuine dance music. This limited edition starts, in the A side, with “Mirasierra”, a long length track that is being charted by Luciano, Nick Curly and many others. I really like this one, it’s a great construction that goes around mnml tech tribal rhythms. In the B side appears “Ronson” with more powerful roots among a step by step pattern, a massive techno beat and a huge bassline… this is something to order the dancefloors to go mad, it’s the most valid tool of the Ep and the most valid reason of this post. A Blue limited edition that all music appreciators should have in their collections

Nick Höppner - Makeover / Foundling

Nick Höppner, influent part in My My trio, releases this solo “Makeover/Foundling” after the last “Who Needs Action” on berghain, now on another division, Ostgut Tontraeger, the visible echoed part. Ostgut was considered one of the best (and the best by a few) labels of the year, so these two names simply seemed to make a great bond.

Needle down on the vinyl, appears “Makeover”, a stripped down, detailed track more sided to the static rythm and some additional increases on the melody to a introspective progressive construction. Fliping back, on the b side, Foundling takes the control into a more ethereal vibe, as it transmits a great sense of order and detail. Will not put your emotion or thrill up on the peak, however, as listened carefully, denotes great quality, reminding us of older times and good memories with a fresh sense. Ostgut starting, since the last ep on february, to appear again this new year betting on stability and quality. (written by Flow)

“It may sound like a cliché, but for once it’s true: in a scene scattered with soundalike artists,Touane sounds like no other. On his many records for Persona, Dumb-Unit, liebe*detail, MiniSketch and Resopal, the Italian producer has continually challenged assumptions about “club music,” turning out rich, surprising tunes that sacrifice neither intellect nor emotion in their pursuit of the groove—making him a perfect fit for Berlin’s Lan Muzic, of course.
Touane’s last release for the label was 2007’s Eiertanz EP; now he returns with two strong new tracks rounded out by a quietly bonkers remix by Lan’s resident mad scientist, Jacopo Carreras. Dark, dirty and mischievous, “Salty Peanuts” finds Touane in full-throttle mode, propelled forward by a deep, muscular bass line and dry, scratchy percussion that vibrates like sandpaper against hardwood. For all its restraint, there’s no forgetting the funk, and as the track builds, adding layer after layer of muted percussion and coolly jewel-toned synthesizers, the track only becomes more urgent and irresistible.

“BBQ” slinks into earshot as if it had a guilty conscience, with churning bass cloaked in shadow and oblique percussion providing cover. But like a blush comes to the cheeks, the track gradually emerges into the light, as bright synthesizer lines build in intensity and the drums start throwing sparks; its long, extended climax is an unexpected fusion of dub techno, percussive house and deepest space disco, and it slays.

Jacopo Carreras’ remix of “Salty Peanuts” is, if anything, even saltier than the original. Staying true to its sense of funk, he leans into the bass, sharpens up the hi-hats and adds a delirious little acid burble, with jittery digital edits crushing beats to bone dust and a gelatinous mass of bass and keys bubbling up and splashing all over the rhythm’s clean lines. It’s one of the most focused things Carreras has done yet, and a guaranteed after-hours secret weapon.”

Chris Lattner & Coco Malente - Limbo Taxi

Chris Lattner, one of the Lessizmore resident, gets back to Einmaleins teaming up with Felicitas Mambele aka Coco Malente, a Nigeriam producer, for another great instalment. This might be considered a little preview of what’s to come during next Summer, fresh sounds, cool happy vocals and some pumpy flavored beats demanding danceable moments. Thats how the Ep starts, in the A side with Lattner’s track. “Limbo With Coco” has already been supported by mr. Nick Curly and Karotte among others, and it might really be a great Summer hit, the track has it all, quality, rhythm and a really enjoayble beat reminding us some of those old school anthems that we so much liked. In the B side Malente’s appears with a “Yellow Cab to Paris” showing up the same kind of patterns presented in the A side, a solid pumpy groove, some tribal elements, smooth funky bassline’s and really good percussive elements. Einmaleins was picked as one of the top 5 labels of last year and that can’t be considered luck, their work continues to be subliminal always presenting some of the best fresh tunes of the market, this time with the most grooviest and the most subtle house out there at the moment. 8Bit Records has just released another massive release this time with their owner leading the decks. If you didn’t knew that Nick Curly is the label head of 8Bit you probably don’t know that he is also the founder of Cécille Records imprint, and this are definitely two of the hottest labels of the market. All their releases have top quality and this one confirms that pattern. The first Nick Curly Series bring us two strong tracks that were already supported by Dj’s like Ricardo Villalobos, Tiefschwarz, 2000&One, Sis, Johnny D, Gregor Tresher, Anthony Collins, Markus Fix, Livio & Roby, Boris Werner and Ray Okpara (…among others). Side A comes with a pumpy fresh tech house groove along with some jazzy elements that will leave the crowd delighted. Side B get’s even better, minimaland’style. It starts pretty deep and calm but the patterns go growing and growing like if there’s no tomorrow. “4711″ will be a sweet candy to all party’s and specially morning after-party’s. Upon You gets back to the scene with a release from one of their favorites producer: Marco Resmann aka Phage. Minimaland has a post of this guy’s first release - “Watercolour”, released by Mobilee - and now, after two years we get to cover another great installment from Mr. Resmann, this time released by my favorite label. So the plot is set: perfect label, awesome producer… the result is an outstanding Ep. It all begins with an edit version of “Paradise Lost”. a track build step by step that starts very dark and smooth but rapidly grows to a kind of underground euphoria full of hypnotic crisped patterns. After this amazing piece of good taste the original version shows up as a light version of the first, not as pumpy, but with an improved minimal sense that you can only listen in releases of labels like Upon You. It’s definitely the track of the Ep that better suits to Minimaland standards. “A Pace of Life”, in the B side finalizes this production in a deep dark style in those kind of night rhythms that the dancefloor will certainly appreciate. Miguel Toro - Ford

Today we present to you some Latin flavors brought by the Venezuelan musician Miguel Toro. I have to say that I didn’t knew this producer but once I listened his Ep “Ford” I fell in love with his music. Released by “Motivbank” the vinyl comes with two tracks, one of them edited by Hagia Sophia… so if you like it simple, groovy and full of quality you have to listen this stunning release. On the A-Side Toro brings us the most exquisite music from South America (full of those latin grooves that minimaland appreciate) along with a traditional 4by4 pumpy beat that we so much like. On the B-side his music gets different influences, becoming a smoother track but never loosing the minimal delicacies that Toro presented us in the other side. It’s definitely an Ep that you should all know released by a very promising label. The German Motivbank debuted with Reboot and now in their 5th release, they look as solid as ever. After some great feedback about his last work released on 8-Bit “Jazz Loops Ep”,Mr Rimah Khalouf aka Amir debuts on Trapez Limited Series with another great piece of good taste. In this release he comes up with two very pleasant tracks and a Into That remix by Piemont.
“Epopoe” was the one that really captivate me, it’s a massive 11 minutes tech house bomb with a huge percussion and some hypnotic samples that will leave you stunned, a true master piece. “Haptic” travels trough house waves, it’s clearly not as pumpy as the other one but it also has got a high quality of production. To end up the release, Piemont came up with a funky remix of “Haptic” (I think this one is only available on digital format, but i’m not sure) with the typical groove that the dancefloors seem to like, a clean beat, nice bassline and let’s party..

They still release almost every thing produced by Wighnomy Brothers and also artists like Marek Hemmann, Mathias Kaden, Kadebostan and Douglas Greed. This last producer just released his new Ep called “Beuys Don’t Cry” and, on FAT’s first appearance during 2009, Douglas came out with a brilliant performance. In his new 12″ he presents 4 tracks full of quality and passion. “If this…” is the first one and starts with a rather pumpy groove transmitting a danceable vibe. The percussive elements are some of the best you may listen nowadays, tech housy feelings all over the place. The 2nd track is the “Chessbet” appealing more to melodic moments, with some acid patterns that will turn your brain completely messed up. The feeling on this one is huge and you’ll definitely feel the incredible vibe this piece or art transmits. “Animals Will Only Come To You If You Feel Them” turns the paths to darker and heavier roots, appealing to your deepest feelings in those kind of tracks that will make the dancefloors mad… this one is to enjoy at open spaces, to float around between a nocturnal melody and some amazing percussion that are present in this amazing groove. Kolombo is a producer well known among the mnmland. We have been covering some of his best releases and in this year he already released two Eps, one on Bluffin Records (Tweedle Dee) and the other on Turbo Records, a Montreal based record label that started out in March of 1998 as a partnership between two friends and DJs, Mark Dillon and Tiga.. old school! While “Tweedle Dee” is a mysterious confusion of weird sounds (not exactly a master piece), “Sniff Ep” is a classic release marked by delicious minimalist constructions and really progressive rhythms. A1 track is a really progressive blow tune marked by a sample recall us to some illicit happenings. It’s very well constructed and will have a certain success in the dancefloors. “Pique Nique” in the B side is the most strong track in the Ep and the real reason of why I’m posting this here. This one has an awesome trippy sub bass groove that is able to eat your mind up. The crispped synths are also delightfull and the all elements seem to combine perfectly, a real brain teaser. Now, in 2009, he shows up once again, this time at Oslo Records do deliver a massive mnml production. “Brothers Ep” is all about long repeated loops with small variances and some fine percussion that will cause you a crazy urge to dance. In fact this Oslo release presents a pack of 3 magnificent tools where quality is ensured.

The label/artist Mountain People might be unknown to some of you, but the ones that already know this project also have the sense that their music is characterized by deep grooves and long house splendor. This release has got two minimalist deep house tracks that might not get into you at the first try, but if you listen it carefully you’ll see that this really has got lots of potential. Marcus Henriksson & Sebastian Mullaert got back to Mule Musiq to produce another dub minimal hit! After “Animals” we may think that they would slow down on production but that’s not what happened. In fact their first release of 2009 brings more from the same: strong drums, deep basslines and some neurotic keyboard effects gathered with carefully chosen samples. In the A side you will listen “My Teenager Gang”, a dubby track, charged with lot’s of bass and some tribal elements: some birds singing, conga rhythms and some great world music chants leading you to the impression that you’re on a music safary around Africa. They all combine perfectly in the whole 10 minutes of this great production, it’s really a master exotic techno dub cut. On the flip “Hundraelva” bets on other kind of roots where synths make the difference. This one reminds me a lot “Hitchhiker’s Choice” or some Cadenza productions, jazzy tones are everywhere getting along with some hypno plastic surfaces ready to terr u apart!
This two tracks are some of the reasons of why i love Minilogue. They are able to do such different things always with pure quality. Their background on Progressive Psychedelic Trance must have helped them to create such different and good environments. If you like pure music don’t miss this Ep.

Alejandro Vivanco - Nachtstring

The Chilean producer is back! The guy who created “Rojo Pomodoro” shows up once again to deliver two precious tracks full of passionate grooves and tribal techy house rhythm. The first track “Nachstring” is something very special, a long length one that starts with some twisted piano chords and a genuine 4×4 beat, very dry, very danceable. The percussion is always an essential part to this kind of tracks, and I bet that as soon as you start listening it your feet will start moving to the beat. In fact this is one of his finest works up to date, 10 minutes of ice breaking music, hitting the floors perfectly. Unmissable!
On the flipside Vivanco offers another massive turn-on. It’s not as hynotic as the first but it contains some high level psyched synths and an amazing percussive beat that will drive you mad. I really think that this kind of tracks can only be done by the Chilean crue - Villalobos, Luciano and Alejandro. 10th release of International Freakshow, already supported by Loco Dice, Luciano, Karotte, Johnny D, Mathias Kaden and 2000 and One.

This label who, last year had only one work released is back in great shape, with the Ep being held by one of my favorite producers.. Sometimes it’s better to release just a few bombs from time to time than to release an Ep every single month and this work prooves it… I’m talking about Tom Ellis and his work “Concentrate.” This disct titled “easygoing” is their first work published this year , a great quality one with lots of compassion. Than in the A side we find one of the best tracks i listened this year, “easygoing” it’s is name indicated for such sonority, full of good emotions and fully acessible to all. With a well danceable pace and a bassline that makes us remember a jazz impromptu. In the middle of the track an introduction of 4 piano chords, performs fully the wishes of any hearing. Excelent for a nice shiny afternoon in this rainy winter. On the other side we have “goingeasy” in a more deep tribal style, accompanied by an alternating low line and a melancholic melody.

Caie “Lars Pärschke” and John Lagora “Tim Wucherpfennig” got together in 2008 to take off in the year 2009. They conjoin House with Techno and customize it to their own style. They are still young producers but already present very nice quality. Both are still working fervently on new mixtures to bring the crowds of the whole world to dance. Furthermore one can be anxious for their new,intended live act,which will be presented soon.
Porcelain Ep has been released a couple of days and can be considered their best performance till now. They shine off with two very good tracks and a fabulous rework by SIS. “Miss Wonderfull” goes a bit housy, but I can see Dj’s like Villalobos playing this at some open air partys. “Breakdown” is quite a good one, more adaptable to our standars, with it’s groovy rude beat and some perfect neurotic elements in the back. But when SIS gets his hands into it, it comes completely different. A 15 minutes SIS remix! Amazing! Smashed the Ibiza floors this year… it has all you can beg for in music, it transmits such feelings in such subtle moments, and the rhythm was not forgotten, neither the beat! Perfect one… reminds me a lot Luciano past productions. It’s an unbelievable track that all of you should know (and buy). Release nr 10 by Material Series..

The duo are back in the game. Masomenos present Matou Ep to delight all of you. If you don’t know this unknown project from France you should be ashamed of yourself. This guys are the revolution, everything they do seems to be magnificent and this is another example of their fine deliverance. To raise the bets higher they invited another amazing producers to remix the first track, they are Kreon & Lemos, the Greek duo, one of the best things that happened in the scene during 2008. Matou Ep is filled with 3 tracks, all of them in the cutting edge of minimal techno.

I’ll start with the last cause that’s my favorite one… “One Inch a Day” has got a vocal that we all known ( i don’t remember from where…) and a rude dry beat that makes everything else look obsolete… it’s surely the purest thing i listened during January… i can’t get tired of it! The beat, omg the beat! Unmissable. “Hands Up” remixed by Masomenos, Kreon and Lemos is the track that opens up the Ep and it’s also a very nice one, lot’s of pumpy energy and the typical Kreon & Lemos deep beat, perfect to enhance the groove among the dancefloor. “NY” follows through the same paths! … The major key of this album and the reason why i’m posting this here is “One Inch A Day”, the track of the year so far! After a brief passing by through Firefly Recordings or Autistc Records, labels where this guy showed us some value as a producer, Max Cooper launches on Traum this fine record, all of it interconnected by some nostalgic harmonies, as the name of the Ep already mentions it. “Harmonish Series” is the main attraction of this work, the track is very well built, step by step with a very danceable rhythm,a powerful bass line and off course, a clear melody as I didn’t listened for a long time The remix of "Harmonisch Series" was in charge of Kanio, focusing more on the rhythmic development of the track, adding some clues to the nostalgic tune we heard in A side. In the b side there’s a more notorious Techno-house, for lovers of techno with clean breaks. "I (long version)" is the second track on the B side, with a tone to remind you that this is the Christmas season, and in rhythmic and constructive terms based on “Harmonisch Serie”. The digital version brings two more tracks, the first is "Compact Yourself" and the second a remix produced by Ito. I strongly recommend this disc to finish the year in beauty, great job made by this highly known label to close 2008.

It’s always a special pleasure to present a new release on Einmaleins. This label will probably be considered the best of the year, their releases seem to be unique, always full of quality, exploring another sides of this kind of music. This time they invited Andrea Gentile & Diego Capri to show out their skills. The duo from Rome producers has been in the scene for two years now and in fact have been doing pretty good things. Thirty Ep is a deep dark minimal kind of album, highly detailed production, perfect musical harmony. They started this with “Gigrobot” introducing us to their dark environments. Its a track that grows gradually, step by step, with an interesting recycling after the breaks. I’s quite mysterious and we just can’t predict whats coming next! On the flipside we got other two enjoyable tracks: “Doubletruck” is another one of those stripped down minimal techno tunes that we like so much here in minimaland. All the things are done with low synths and low beats, giving you an atmosphere of fear and seduction till the end. Dark! “Reakone” closes down this Ep with a higher techno feeling, not as minimal as the others, but more powerful and neurotic, perfect to demanding dancefloors. Enjoy!

The Italian Techno producer born in Naples is one of those guys that decided to put an end in his hardtechno productions and run through more deep minimal patterns. Marco Carola has already edited a few Ep’s in this new condition and he is easily achieving great success. Bloody Cash Ep it’s definitely his most brilliant release on Plus 8 records presenting four blasting tracks that will make wonders in the dancefloors. The release has 4 quality tracks that bet on great level of synths and some keyboard riff’s going along with some trendy beats creating an unique dance flow… that’s exactly what happens in the first track, “Bloody Cash”, flawless track, unstoppable rhythm, huge tech mnml construction. b side track is “Serins”, going through a different environment, clearly more electronic, but also with a pretty good double kick. Lot’s of snares, ups and downs, amazing groove!
There’s two digital onyl tracks, the first is my favorite of the all release - “Pampero” - build step by step, it presents a classic Carola bassline. It’s surely a perfect Dj Tool, a easy-going track to rise the moods among the dancefloor. Finally Carola takes a “Long Jump” into a resilient growing groove with some pretty good tools. Starbug is the (recent) project that I suggest to our readers today. I have few info’s on this one, I read they are the new hot stuff from one of the hidden champs of the Rhein-Main-Area on the recent electronic circuit. They might be hidden but they have been doing some great productions and all of them have been released on their own label - Starbugs Recordings. This Ep is their 6th release and has already been supported by producers like Luciano, Villalobos, Dan Curtin, Barem and Matt Star, among others. It’s really a cool tech minimal project with some stylish tribal tendencies. “Hummelbar” is composed by three flavored club tunes. a1 track is a massive one, with some great basslines around a deep tribal construction that shows all the quality that this guys have. Next it’s “Reine Nervensache” - b1 - that shows up… a perfect tool to every Dj with a quite good rhythm, some low level synths and a somehow neurotic construction. The last track is “Zoink” and I must say that it’s quite a way to end this Ep. I immediately fell in love for this one… the construction goes step by step, the beat is very good and the bassline huge. Pumpy, highly detailed, minimal techno cuts that will have a massive effect on the dancefloors.
Brilliant, seductive minimal project with all the inputs to be one of the best in the scene! We expect a great future to this Starbug releases. Not to loose out of sight!

Delete & Colmenares - Sirve?

Sirve? Ep is a collaboration between Venezuelan producers Sergio Muñoz a.k.a Delete & his friend Miguel Colmenares. Both artists got together for a couple of sessions in the concrete jungle that is Caracas and the result was a weird but groovy collection of sounds showings us the best Latin flavors of the mnml market. If you know Delete from previous works you might remind some weird disturbed sounds like Frankie and that kind of genre… this Ep is not about that kind of music, it’s softer, turned up to minimal patterns, just as we like it. “Si sirve” is a shuffled-groove track with many different elements that somehow fit together, this reminds me a lot Ricardo Villalobos tracks presented in his 2004 album Thé Au Harem D’Archimède. “No sirve” on the other hand is a straighter track with a strong analogue feel. “Si sirve” gets the remix treatment by Easy Changes - one of our favorites - who offer a straight-up dancefloor approach that slowly builds into a massive groove, the construction of the track is purely amazing, straight minimal roots while pompelmoessap deliver a big room concoction of their own for those in need of a darker version of the original - our fav track of the Ep. rounding up the release is a final remix on the experimental tip with quit quite quick’s rendition of “si sirve”. Paul Brtschitsch & Cio D'or - Aroma Ep

Paul Brtschitsch is a Berlin resident and has been producing since 1997. He is one of those genuine German producers that we so much appreciate! He had some great releases during the past years, most of them on Frisbee Tracks, one of the greatest labels ever in this kind of music.
In this release he teamed up with Cio D’or, a young talent that has already had some references in our blog due to some nice productions. Her first steps in music were playing congas in a jazz band at 17, from there she started to develop a refined taste in music and soon she appeared among the German techno scene. From there on she became one of Germany finest Djs and now she has been showing some production skills.
Aroma Ep - released on Broque - shows all their skills. This release presents some of the finest music i listened for a while. It starts with “Safran”, a pure underground track with that kind of rhythm that can’t make you stop, the bassline is up to level and the neurotic synths in the back makes it perfect. Also a reference to the construction, the sounds keep entering in the right place, just adding more and more to it. Amazing performance! Next “Ginger” appears showing up another kind of flow. This one turns up to deep roots chilling out the moods. Its a nice tune, turns well on sunny morning flavours. Ending up there’s sort of an experimental track - “kurkuma”- with three minutes, a spooky one perfect to a soundtrack.
Highly recommended.

Kreon - Jack Ep

The German label Cecille Numbers is back! In their 4th release they bring back Markos Spanoudakis aka Kreon, one of the producers of the year. The Greek shows once again a pack of groovy productions with 3 tracks made to delight us all.
The Ep starts with Jauce, a very funky track with a stunning shaking beat and some vocals that will turn the dancefloor crazy! It’s definitely a track turned up to sexy deep house flavors but somehow, it would adapt just fine to a morning minimal party! In the b side we have “Clorpe”, this time with the kind of rhythm that we support here in minimaland! A deep track build up step by step, with the different elements appearing one by one in the proper time. This is the kind of groove that we are in to, so it’s easily our favorite track of the Ep. To end this sweet release we have “Just Jack” with some sassy soul vocals and a great bassline beat, a house tune, once again, turned to morning party’s. It’s a nice shake but it doesn’t properly fit in minimaland patterns!
Despite the house convergence, we can’t say that this is a bad release… the level of production is well above the average and the kind of productions is somehow different and tasty! “Clorpe” is the most shiniest track of the Ep, full support!

Rievaulx - Ghosts In The Machine

We were already missing Kickboxer’s releases! This parent label of Boxer Recording has presented us some pretty nice releases like Haito & Diringer - Perception and Matzak - Might is Right. Now, after 3 months of absence, they release their 22rd edition with Rievaulx ( aka Bryan J Robsan, one part of Solaris Heighs) leading the decks. It’s this guy’s - UK based - debut and he got in to the scene in the most perfect way.
Rievaulx makes me remind producers like Gabriel Ananda and Dominik Eulberg, he bets a lot in deep melodies and some twisted neuro environments around them. “Animo” is the perfect example of it, it has great chords, a tremendous deep housy beat and a neurotic melody able to make you mad while you listen it! Sweet sweet theme! In the b side appears “Boxing Shadows”, the greatest track of the Ep. The melody is very groove, the minimal techno 4×4 high pace beat that begins around 1:14 minutes it’s devastating. It makes the junction of the different pieces seem perfect. I hadn’t listened a track like this for a while now, it’s a beautiful track made to touch our souls but also to make us dance.
Easily the best release i listened this month! Don’t miss this one, for your own mind health!

Gregorythme - Square Roots Ep

From the legendary Cadenza duo Digitaline comes this Swiss producer Gregorythme. In his second release this year and debuting for Minimood (Berlin/Lausanne based label) he shows an irresistible minimality on his grooves that we had to support! The Ep has two original tracks and a remix performed by Tokyo based So Inagawa.
Square Roots Ep starts with “Besides B-sides”, a track that we can connect to what Digitaline normaly does. The beat, drums and the fabulous Chords are very Cadenza like! It’s a fantastic minimal installment track that will acid you up in the dancefloor. Next So Inagawa shows up to deliver a trippy tech-house remix… it’s also a great groovy track with an insistent percussion and some great bassline getting along with a neurotic organ that will make your mind fly into another state of consciousness. This guy is one of Minimood’s permanent artists, he is making top productions, and this remix is the greatest example of that fact! Lastly, b2 track, the original “So Low in Oslo” is the shiniest piece of this Ep. It’s also another deep minimal turn-on, reminding me a lot Villalobo’s epic productions! ” dripping with sleazy laziness this track is a shuffling monster of maxed-out understatement. as bewildering as it is brilliant, this is another fine example of MINIMOOD’s ability to push, produce and bend the boundaries of today’s scene.”

Sierra Sam & Marcus Vector - Slab City Ep

Following their debut joint EP on Contexterrior, Belgian duo Sierra Sam & Marcus Vector return home to their own ToysForBoys label for another collaborative EP. Sam - resident of Berlin’s Tresor - is definitely one of the producers of the year, he has been making very good tracks - most of theme with Bloody Mary. This new work with Marcus is another major key on his career with three tools that you’ll all like!
Opening up there’s Slab City, a genuine peace of good minimal techno, with an excellent rhythm and a awesome pack of tribal drums that will make you feel an enjoyable vibe! Next there’s “Parole”, another perfectly executed minimal production, this time with some electro sounds to come along… In the B side the owner of Upon You, formerly part of Pan-Pot, Marco Resmann aka Phage shows up to build a different view for “Parole”. He inputs another vibe to the track, giving it a schizophrenic dimension and a very dark feeling. If i had to rate this remix I would give it an “A”, the production is excelent, the way the different pieces enter in the track is brilliant and the global feeling of the track is so hypnotic that probably will make you insane!

Mathias Kaden is back to Vakant records, a German Berlin based label for minimal techno run by Alex Knoblauch and Stephan Bolch, one of our favorites. In his first release this year for them he shined up with two long length minimal tracks, huge bombs I must say! In the a-side you will listen “Moron”, a great turn-on reminding me some productions of Mr. Villalobos - the bass variances are wicked and the rhythm is perfect to dance. It’s really a brilliant construction, showing us why he has such great reputation among the techno mnml scene. B side presents “Shetani” clearly going to deeper spaces. The beat is not as pumpy as the first, going through a deep construction! Once again, Kaden bets on worked bass variances (maybe he has been listening Villa, no?)! When the beat starts to uprise and then going down you’ll get a great different feeling about this! It’s really a worked Ep, with tracks that don’t bet on fashionable music, it’s just the deepest minimal you can have, with the kind of rhythms that can be only listened in the best guys of the scene! Kaden is definitely one of the greatest producers among this kind of music, one of the greatest Vakant bets! Huge EP!

Philip Flindt - Or Wha

It took me a long time to decide what to post here… the releases this week weren’t that great but, fortunately this EP came up, it’s easily the best think i listened in the last days. I didn’t knew the producer yet but after a small search I can tell you that Philip Flindt is a Copenhagen - Denmark - based producer and this is his 2nd release. Both have been brought up by Freunde Tontraeger, a very promising label! The released is composed by one original track “Or Wha” and two remixes featuring Monoroom and Nils Nilson, two guys that know what techno music is all about!

The original is a grooving minimal track with a powerful bassline and lots of energy to full-fill the crowd’s expectations. The emotions just keep going high and low during it. It’s a top production full of quality moments. Nils Nilson remix is also a great one, building a step-by-step track with all the sounds entering one by one, in the right time… it improves a lot the first one, giving it a greater minimal flavor. Last but not the least we have Monoroom’s work, turning the original completely upside down! This is a great approach to the track, Frank Nova & Oliver Schleenvoigt used their normal deep lines to built a rather minimal installment, the rhythm is the best you can have in this kind of music! The pace is awesome, the horns were excused! Release nr 7 on Freunde Tontraeger, another must have to all musical collectors.

Exercise One - All Out Ep

Exercise One (Marco Freivogel & Ingo Gansera) are not newbies here in the minimal land. We’ve posted great releases from them like Debaya, Dark Star, Intensity, or Oi Oi London this is Kreuzberg… We really don’t want to review always the same producers, but sometimes, when the quality they generate is so good it’s really difficult for us to avoid that fact and don’t feel tempted to review another release from them.

This is exactly what happens with All Out Ep, on Lan Muzic, label run by themselves and founded in 2005 with Kitchentools Ep (Lan001). Anja Schneider (runs mobilee) supported the project on her Radio Fritz Show and then it was only a step untill invite them to release Steady Pulse Ep. After that I think the history of them is pretty well known. Some releases on Mobilee, Exone and their own Lan Muzic.
Exercise One is known also by their live performances, that have been acclaimed in liveset’s like Mobilee pre-sonar showcase in 2006. Their live performances are focused on spontaneity and improvisation which leads them to hypnotic basslines and twisted sequences.
All out is a great track, filled of senses and progressive chains interconnected trough all the frequencies of the track spectrum. A little bit progressive, goes from a start to an end adding and quitting samples and feelings with determination, what looking at track’s name makes some sense. They seem to put all out till the end of the track. It’s not really hard electronic, but its undoubtly one of the hardest tracks I’ve heard from Exercise One and still having their own fingerprint.
Parasol it’s a LP (Long-Play). The cadence and the real simple sound connections are the rule here. It’s thirteen minutes of good mood, sound exploration and musical tricks, upgraded at minute three with sounds and a new body. Everything at this point seems a little bit lost for some few moments, searching a new identity. Everything fits? So, lets go, continue the good mood! A relaxed one, to face different states of mind with simplicity. Cadence, exploration, groove and a good vibe are the keywords in this production.

Yann Tiersen & Jay Haze - Comptine d'un autre été: l'après-midi

Tuningspork presents “Comptine D’un Autre Été: l’aprés-midi”. Jay Haze gathered with the French composer Yan Tiersen to perform a one sided Ep full of deep melancholic moods. Yan is a musician known internationally for composing the score to the Jean-Pierre Jeunet movie Amélie. His music is recognized by its use of a large variety of instruments in relatively minimalist compositions.. Jay Haze fell in love with this guys music enough to take a beat under one of his tracks and the result was simply beautiful. Translated to English the title of the track would mean something like: nursery rhyme of another summer: the afternoon. It’s definitely a charming peace of the most delicate art, that really enters in your soul, and at the same time is a bumping minimal techno track perfect to open - or close - those kinds of special party’s! The piano melody along that deep typical Haze’s beat - and later the Violin - is really something that transmits a special feeling, heavy-hearted! I hope you’ll stick with this for a long time, it’s a refreshing change of pace for Haze and for Tuning Spork, and I guess that it will bring some massive turn-on moments into the dancefloor … simply amazing! Following works realized by Sebo K, Marcin Czubala and Gummihz, Mobilee Records present us this extraordinary, deeply worked, vinyl. Marc Antona has previously took presence in labels like Micro-fibres, freak n chic and also Sender Records - label in witch he show us a magnificent work named Blind tested. In this new work composed by two tracks he is able to transfer an enormous power and energy, maybe inspired in his Sender 073. One of them - Simple Venus - is gathered by a constant click of two weird tones, starting with an accelerated rhythm, then a pause followed by it’s natural recycling. It’s excellent for a brain wash during a critical mind state. In the flipside of the ep it’s a well more powerful “Give me flowers” applying new situations in the right time managing to enter in the same patterns of the first track with the so called “natural recycling after the break”. It also has a great bassline composed by two distinguishable moments making the track very accessible to the dancefloor, you will start to dance and don’t even know it!

Masomenos - Bobby Ep

Bobby Ep it the 5th release of the mysterious producer/label Masomenos (moreorless in English). No one knows who are the producers behind this project, but their music is able to transmit some of the most trendy minimal sounds that i can recall. All I know is that they have a store in Paris so they must be from there! So, in this release you will be listening three groovy minimal techno tracks, starting with “What is this” presenting an huge bassline and some hypno constructions that will surely delight the dancefloor… sublime work! Next, on the b side you’ll listen “On Fait La Java” going to deeper tones and some tribal percussion, it’s also a very pumpy track where everyone will feel the urge to dance! The 4×4 rhythm and the step by step construction is perfect in this one. Finally, b2, showing some “Love” with a tender deep bass and a kind of disturbed sub-bass that’ll get everyone going. It’s a more calm track, with some melodic touches but completely suitable to the crowds needs! The 5th release to what should be a great new label, don’t miss this exciting new project. Stephan Hinz - Bacala

Kling Klong, Renaissance or even Boxer recordings are some of the labels, carriers of good works made by Stephan Hinz. But it’s Martin Eyerer who has been following Hinz’s works more closely, like : Shangai or Tucan. After the remarkable Ep edited by Kickboxer( parent label of boxer recordings) named “Etudes For Rhords & Canned Strings” comes back to Audiomatique to launch this fantastic work named Bacala. It’s a disc composed by two musics, one of them being a remix produced by Adultnapper. In the a side we have the original track, presenting a fabulous construction, very well defined, step by step and a dark pack of tones that will surely have a great success on the dancefloors during the coming Winter. In the b side it’s Adultnapper who enters in action, applying some obscure tones and glancing some parts of the original track giving to it a higher dark consistency. It’s definitely an excellent choice to a crazy late evening in a tender rainy day.

Ricardo Tobar - With You

Directly from Chile we present you Ricardo Tobar. He has been in the scene for a couple of time, having previously released three Ep’s at Border Community, always presenting deep melodic environments in his productions. Boomkat.com compared him to The Field and we totally agree on that, it’s the same kind of sound, but obviously with another influences going on. This time on Traum, Tobar presents a album full of unexpected pleasures. The first two tracks can also remind us producers like Extrawelt or Oxia… music directly made to enter through your brain… “La otra playa” is to be danced with your eyes closed, imagining you’re in a spectacular landscape where nothing bad can happen or even exist… amazing journey! “With you” invests on a harder rhythm never forgetting the melodic part. I can’t stop listening this one… the amount of feelings that are transmitted in this one is something unexplainable… you’ll have to listen it for yourself and see! “Escalera A Central”, the last track of the release, starts with a pretty good kickdrum and some darker samples setting up the pace. A great one to enhance some evil energies, pure underground rhythm and neurotic melody showing a different look on Ricardo Tobar’s productions! It’s another won bet on Traum (it couldn’t go wrong), electronic melodic songs, always with a dancefloor range.

Miskate - Pointless Ep

It was already in 2005 that I begin to listen some Miskate tracks in Ricardo Villalobos set’s. Since then I became a huge fan of this girl and today I present you her latest work! Pointless Ep was released on one of the most appreciated labels here in Minimaland, the one and only Einmaleins! For those who don’t know this producer I can tell you that she is from Pittsburgh and, apart from doing music, she has been working as a co-organizer on Foundsound.
In this release Miss Kate present’s us three genuine pieces of good-taste with a strong charge of deep, minimal lines and perfect step by step constructions. The Ep starts with “Bric a Brac” characterizing all that I’ve said about her music… deep minimal music, low synths and funky groove, perfect to night dancefloor rhythms. Next follows up “What’s The Point”, a track that explores darker environments,able to get you frightened with a couple of spooky voices presented in it; A word also to the bassline, leveled to perfection. In the flipside you’ll have a remix of “What’s The Point” by Lazy Mouth. More stripped down techno, acid synths in loops and a nice 4×4 groove! To listen in the club or at home, you won’t get disappointed. Grab this as soon as you can, get to know one of the best American projects in the minimal techno scene..

Johnny D - Requiem of a Dream Ep

After some releases on Oslo Label and a mixed cd for cocoon (disco invaders - cocoon ibiza summer mix), Johnny D (Johannes Debese), strokes now on 8 bit records, label run by Nick Curly and Gorge (Nick Curly also runs Cécille together with Marc S), based in Mannheim, Germany.
This Ep, "Requiem of a Dream", appears as a delight to our ears. The first track, "Requiem of a Dream", starts very gentle with a background violin sound almost unperceptible. As the medium harmony make their intrincated games, a new bass appears and the music keeps growing in a progressive way till the moment the violin sound appears with a new evolution, as the registry maintains the same, this is minimalism!... Keeps going in a beautiful way, new sounds added, but the main record mantains the same. This, gentleman's, is 8 minutes of pure delight...
The second track, "Scope of mind", starts a little more bassed, but the formula is the same. Great under construction, every bpm space very filled without a lot of samples. It seems simple and easy, but it's not. Nowadays some artists add a lot of things to a track, and that's not minimalism, it's more confusionism,lol. Johnny D haves a word to say on that, appears to be the message underneath this Ep.
Great harmony powered by great bass chains in a very progressive well structured final result appears to me as the best description for this Ep. Not heavy, but heaven :)
Supported already by names like Nick Curly, Ricardo Villalobos, Loco Dice among others...

Kleep - Formula One / Muppet Ride

We present you Leep, the latest project of the Finnish-born Sami Liuski. We is a well known artist from previous projects like Bangkok Impact and Putsch'79. It's the second ep released under the new name by the musician and they have both been released on Klang Elektronik with great success! Sami recently moved to Berlin and has been exposed to more minimal and techno surroundings receiving the proper influences to turn himself a true producer. His tracks are all about minimalist pumpy basslines, neurotic melodies, dry kickdrums and heavy acid percussion as you may notice in "Formula One", presented on the a side - excellent track. His style is completely suitable to German normal patterns and his music is perfect to enhance the dancefloor feelings. In the flipside there's another perfectly executed track. This one has a more aggressive rhythm and a nice tripped constructions with lots of neurotic variances. They are both great grooves and will be a nice add-on to everyone's collection. Kleep proved to be a great newcomer in the scene, we'll be paying attention to his next releases.

The Youngsters - Babylon Superstars

Olivier Mateu and Gilles Escoffier aka The Youngsters are not exactly young in the scene... they have been around for several years and, in their second production during 2008, they come to show us, once again, what electronic music is all about! "Babylon Superstars" was released on 2020Soundsystem a few days ago and it is by far the most delicate unique piece I listened this week. The Ep has got two original tracks and a remix executed by Simon Baker (another class producer) in witch all of them appear to demonstrate a certain flavour that probably will get you addicted to. The first track of the side a is a great piece of deep minimal house music with a smooth groove that would be perfectly used in a morning after-party. Then Simon Baker's remix appears to shake things up. He adds a more underground percussion and a different groove to the track turning it into a high standard tech house mix. The bassline in the 2nd part of the music is a massive turn on in the track!
In the flipside the duo presents us the strongest piece of this Ep. Fukuoaka Underground is a stunning track, build step by step with great snares and some hypnotic moments that were brightly turned into a wonderful dancefloor piece. It's a peaceful track but will let your mind float away during a couple of minutes. This is your chance to know better this duo's work. Three deep minimal anthems perfectly build to raise up your soul and spirit, a collector's release, i bought mine! While a dreamy atmosphere remains in your head your body is locked in an inescapable groove.

Rauwkost - Trump It

Today we present you two very talented producers from the Netherlands - Floris Regoort & Jasper Lowik are the duo behind Rauwkost. They couldn’t have a better debut, this Ep released on ThirtyOneTwenty has been played in sets of known Djs like Ricardo Villalobos, Raresh, 2000 and One, Karotte, Anthony Collins, Shinedoe and Andre Crom among others. In fact this is a special Ep, one of the bests i listened during this last months, all the tracks show a particular refined production of fresh new sounds, dancefloor killers.
To start the Ep you have the pumping “Trump It”, a massive production with a very nice rhythm and awesome breaks followed by groovy euphoric moments. I guarantee that this one will be tarring apart the crowds, it’s the kind of track that is able to raise up the moods and expectations of any dancefloor ambience. On the flipside we have a different kind of track, the oriental flavoured “1 Nacht In Duizenden” it’s not as groovy as the first one, betting more on a dark underground environment with a rude dry beat and a subtle growing construction, just as we like it here in Minimaland. “Unsere Liebe” ends up the Ep in the perfect way. I’d say that the first two tracks were some of the best productions I listened this year… this third is goes even further, this is a non-stopping, high pace, tech house bomb that promises to raise up the temperature and cause a massive stroke in all of you - not advisable to people with a heart condition!
This promising duo have done three very different tracks, all of them top quality, already showing a know how and passion for music above the average. It’s definitely one of the best releases I listened this year. We will be waiting for their next work that will be released on Kompass Music - KOMPA014 - “The Green Jacket EP”.

Kompass Musik after attendance’s as Extrawelt, Remute, Tigerskin or Heerhorst & Meissner edit, for the second time a work by Philip Wolgast. After “My Maid Siren” is held in 2006 by him, now is the time of “Unshaved”, a disc very well composed, with 3 exceptional music. It is in the a side that you can listen my favorite, named “unrasiert und der heimat fern”, capable of making anyone dance, getting our interior, feeding a whole natural adrenaline. Excelent building accompanied by a devastating bassline . The remix was made by the Argentine Juan Franco Di Lorenzo aka Dilo, giving greater energy to the music, with the appropriate break always in the right time, carrying subtle touches of piano for his remix. For the lovers of ghost entries, after a pause well achieved, we have “within”, with a very tribal percursion, very well crafted regarded to time and the addition of important factors in its development. Channel X - Burning Train

Upon You is a label well known by all of our readers. We generally like their works and once again this is not an exception. In their 15th release they invited the duo composed by André Quasar and Mirko Hensel aka Channel X to lead the decks. They previously released works to Stil Vor Talent and Kassete Records, i must say that i didn’t knew this guys but their works is pretty interesting.
Burning Train has got two original musics and a remix performed by the famous Ruede Hagelstein. In the a side you pass by a “Lost Train”, a pure underground techno track with a hard bassy beat and a step by step construction, just as we like it! It’s a track perfectly suitable to the night pumpy rhythms that you’ll surely appreciate. In the second track a “Hot Candy” is given to all of us… a typical minimaland lovers track, pretty well constructed with all things appearing in the right time! Amazing nigh track with a wicked dry beat, amazing hit-hats and a hot pace setting it up, rhythm non stop so you can dance till you can say no more! Finally in the b side Ruede Hagelstein appears giving “Hot Candy” a completely new feeling… he turns it into a deep groove with a soft melody gently enhancing the track to after hours sessions. It’s also a nice track giving the tender touch that this Ep seemed to beg for. This turns this release into a must have one, with a different mixture of textures and flavours.
