Lexy - The Last Days of The Glow Worms

In the past few days I received this sweet release produced by Lexy a.k.a. Alexander Gerlach and in fact it's one of the nicest things i've listened in a while! This might be considered as the highest step that this German producer took in his career as a producer. Areal is one of the most considered labels in the scene where expectations are always very high! The Last Days Of the Glowworm doesn't let it down, it has two fabulous tracks that you like for sure. In the a side you can count on a great music that will shake the dancefloors. Build step by step, everything seems to enter gently into the music to create an unique environment. A monster track, perfect to shake things up in a open air party! In the B side, more of the same... Berlin style all the way in a track that can makes us remember Superpitcher's best productions. Lexy is on the right way... I will be waiting for his upcoming releases. Another bet won on Areal Records. To be released in the beginning of August, be aware and don't miss it!

The story of the Glowworm:
"it really did look a bit weird: a huge, red tower consisting
of billions of blazing red glow worms and all this happening right in
the middle of Berlin-Kreuzberg. When you got closer to this tower,
you were lulled in the ear-deafening buzzing from the exhilarated
little animals. The longer the tower was buzzing passively
however, the more nervous the people of Berlin became. After all,
this absurd natural phenomenon must mean something. Experts
were helpless, the people of Berlin confused, religious fanatics
from all over the world in uproar. But the only thing people could do
was waiting to see what was going to happen."

Kreon - Gagnant Ep

Since “Lookoshere” - release 19 on Resopal red series - that I been following the great careers of Lemos and Kreon and their unique form of producing. So this time the Greek Markos Spanoudakis worked alone… but the level of music stills the same.
It was an important element to see… what kind of music would Kreon or Lemos produce when they where on their own. What i can say to you is simple: Both continued to do amazing things, never forgetting their solid bases of jazz themes in deep organic beats!
Gagnant is another peace of art with three major musics all able to delight the dancefloor demands. “Fuente”, the first track, has a spectacular bass line and nice neurotic piano notes in the back following the beat through the development of the music. It’s in fact a great music, where his jazz influences are well noticed. You will see that this could only be Kreon… or Lemos. “Tromarasou” follows the good taste of the first, this one has a more pumpy rhythm but the heart of the music stills the same, very passionate. Last, but not the least we have “Momento” flying trough great electronic synth lines between a deep calm construction where the elements enter, one by one… nice to the late hours of the afternoon!
Kreon is a major fresh air in the entire scene, i’m glad something like this appears every now and then. Released on Resopal, on their red series… a must have!

Mathias Mesteno - Dixie's Diner

Upon You is one of our favorite labels. Their quality is outrageous, i confess that i've never listened anything bad from them and, this time, Mathias Mesteno was their bet. Also known as Matt Vega, this dj and producer from Copenhagen - Denmark - presents tremendous skills in this 3 musics ep. To start off the a1 side "Dixie's Diner" - 11 minutes off deep minimal stuff, with a very nice bass and a fabulous construction. Nice breaks, clean entrances and exquisite taste of pieces. This is surely the main plate of the menu, i can't get tired of listening it... just going and going. wow! ... after you get a taste of Dixie's Diner there can't be nothing better than "Waffles" - b side - also a tremendous music with a nice underground flavor. This guy knows how to make it... You feel like you're listening techno constructions but the minimal power is always present. What a turn on! And to end this nothing better than "Steaks and Chops" - a seductive piece by piece music presenting you the ingredients one by one... till you can't get more of it! Great Ep, one of the best things i listened recently.

Solar & Poppcke - Useless Beauty Ep

Hello people, today's release goes melodic. Daniel Solar and Mark Poppcke already caught my atention when they released Grounded Ep ("Emitter" is awesome) a few weeks ago but i decided to wait for another Ep to see if they were really good or if it was begginers luck and, as a matter of fact, they kept doing nice enjoyable things. This German guys produce a melody so sweet and tender able to make you fly away from it all and relax on deep touchy music. "Useless Beauty" opens this great Ep in a great way, it has a smooth beat and an enormous feeling. I can already imagine this one being played when the sun is high in the sky... it's perfect for an outdoor party! Alex Niggeman remix of this one gets a little more pumpy with a more intense beat but keep the main elements of the original. Very nice one, but i prefer the original. In the B side we have "Starlit Skies", the most minimalist track of them all, with a nice rhythm, a step-by-step construction and obviously, in the second part of the music, the tremendous melody. This one can be used in the night or in the day, it contains elements for both occasions. It's a wonderful track! Finally you have "Kaimar" getting back to the a-side patterns. Another perfect one to the wide open spaces. Let yourself be driven by all it's feelings and intensity, in the original or in the remix, cause they are both very pleasent. Heartthrob - Signs

One of m_nus best producers is back. Jesse Siminski aka Heartthrob presents his first Ep of 2008 and i may say to you that he is in great shape! So, today (28.05) will be released in digital version "Signs" on beatport, you can count on tremendous basslines and very high synths ready to screw your head up. Both musics are excellent, the a side shows all the skills that this guy has. He goes up and down, left and right, always with a dead wish for minimal sounds that are able to terr you apart. It's a funky music, highly intense with a weird, kind of spooky, melody that i just can't stop listening! Easily one of the tracks of the year so far. Next, in the b side, we have "Apprentice" - this one gets back to m_nus essentials, low synths, deep dry beat, acid flavors and a set of samples of such creativity that will drive you to insanity! Both tracks will make the difference in the dancefloors, the level of production is very good, typical in this label that we were already missing. Take this Ep as a little show-off to what's gonna be Heartthrob Album that will be out very soon. Sick release!

Gregor Tresher - Break New Soil

Break New Soil is, without any doubts, the best Ep i listened this week - and they have been plenty enough. Gregor Tresher is not new in the scene, he has been doing quite a good work since 2004 that has been mostly released on Datapunk and Great Stuff Rec. This time it was Moon Harbour Recordings who bet in the German producer. I advice you to listen this one carefully cause it's really great stuff. In the A side you can listen the original of "Break New Soil", a track that seems being recycled over and over with lots of clean breaks and great entrances after it. Perfect construction, clean minimal, a hit here in mnmland! And, if the a side it's good, wait untill you listen the b one. Daniel Stefanik turned the music into a perfect deep minimal pierce of art. I can already imagine this one being played in the early hours of the morning with the sun appearing around. It's a seductive music, great bass line over the beat and keeping the breaks that i talked about off the original one. Don't miss this one people, Gregor Tresher telling you how it's done!

Lemos - Part One / Part Two

Lemos was my biggest surprise so far this year. His music is genuine and passioned and his sense of style is incredibly suitable to the new trends. So... the Greek producer got back with this release divided in two Eps ("Part One" and "Part Two") to celebrate the birth of a new label: Cecille Numbers. The a side of both was worked together with Ilan Manovach and they managed to create two true funky love tracks glanced by a great saxophone's (recorded live) coming along with a brilliant deep beat in two exquisite tracks. If you think that the A side of both are good wait untill you listen the B! "What Do You Believe?" is being played by names like Villalobos, Magda, Loco Dice, Karotte among others and has created great moments in the clubs. It goes through acid flavors, and the voices are not bad. Finally lets talk about "My Lady"... this has all the ingredients needed to a great music... nice construction, perfect beat, clean breaks and a strong rhythm. It's my favorite of the 4! Lemos equals Future, a stunning release, hope you enjoy.

Florian Meindl - Blast

Set to be out in May 13, Blast is the first Ep from Mr. Florian Meindl in 2008. And after listening it i can say to you that I'm glad he is back! This producer was born in Austria but had to move to Berlin in 2006 to be surrounded by the best guys of minimal production. Trapez never misses and this one proves it again! The first music of this ep couldn't had a better name and as it say's, it's really an huge Blast! 8 minutes of non stopping rhythm that you will beg not to stop when you hear it at the dance floors. I really enjoy this one, the power is enormous... makes me remind the great nights of "Dusty Kid - Logo", it pushes it through the edge! "Adjust" is also a nice groovy music, not as techy as the first but also with a nice development where minimal is brilliant presented. This would be to the first hours of the night when the moods are yet to be settled. "Subfocus" ends this Ep in a great minimal way. A nice track where everything grows once at the time. 3 great musics in a peace of art at the minimal techno scene, where Blast is definitely the main key! Enjoy..

Paul Kalkbrenner - Bingo Bongo

Paul Kalkbrenner is one of the names that, here in minimal land, we like the most. His genuine music fits perfectly to our world of magical potions! This two musics makes me realize that this guy is still hanging on to what he does the best! In the A side we have the "Bingo Bongo" track. A deep quiet music filled by a quite sad melody... this music is getting better and better every time i listen it... it's one of the quality's of Mr. Kalkbrenner. In the B side you have one of those old school tracks he normally produces. A music that can be compared to Altes Kamuffel, also done by him. A pumpy beat and a groovy style in a genuine German style, perfect to rise up the levels in the dancefloor... what an explosion!! A side to the mind, B side to the Body, released by Bpitch Control.

My My - Southbound

My My are surely one of my favorite producers. The boys from playhouse - Lee Jones (producer of "Aria", far from doubts, already one of the eps of the year) and Nicolas Hoppner - got together, for the first time this year to produce a classic release! This is the kind of music that can change moods, able to give a great environment to where ever it plays. "Southbound" is a groovy track with a nice deep beat and great chords marking the pace. You will surely recognize all the normal standards that My My uses to develop in this track... great work. "Pink Flamingos", in the b side, follows through different steps. With a great set of deep drum rhythms this turns out to be a more relaxing work. I love this kind of productions of this duo. It's a great way to spend a wonderful afternoon in great vibes. Luciano Pizzella - Pavlov Said

In this last few times I've been addicted to two Eps... one was already posted (Lee Jones - Aria) and it's time to show you the second one. Luciano Pizzella is the responsable for this great work. "Pavlov Said" makes me remember the better days.. the feeling it carries, the emotion it brings, it will all enhance your mood and spirit. Despite my great friend Francis doesn't like it, all i can say is that this one will inspire the most of you. It's a deep, deep music with a perfect construction charged by a great melody... The remix made by Daso will fulfill all the dancefloor needs, it has a 180º change, but it's also very good. The melody has only small appearances, before and after it's all hard and rough! The original music is the reason of this post. Like once Pavlov defended, the typical procedure for inducing classical conditioning involves presentations of a neutral stimulus along with a stimulus of some significance, in this case the neutral stimulus would be the beat and construction and the significant one would be the melody. This Ep will condition your deepest thoughts! Music directed to the soul! Pavlov said and will continue to say! Released by Dogtown Belgium...

Exercise One - Intensity

It was being difficult to arrange an Exercise One release that I'd like... Despite being one of my favorite artists their last releases weren't that good... but this time, at mobilee records, Marco Freivogel & Ingo Gansera created a fantastic Ep. "Intensity", a side track, has all the condiments to be perfect at the dancefloors.. It has a minimal start and than it goes evolving to minimal techno standards. The rhythm is constructed with a powerful bass line presented in a spectacular beat... on and on 'till the end! Far from any doubt's... the best music i heard from this guys in a long time. In the b side the Berlin duo developed a deeper track, not as groovy as the other, but still.. a good and nice track. "Ceremony" might not attract you in the first times but, in the end, you will notice that this is a good hypnotic minimal puncher! Nice acid melody after 3.44minutes and than the Ceremony begins... wow! This one had to be released by Mobilee Records, one of the greatest labels of our times.

Lee Jones - Aria

Lee Jones (member of My My) is a German producer, based in Berlin. This Ep might be his greatest work. Aria - a side track - is a deep feelings music charged with a strong melody and a nice minimal environment. Despite not being made directly to hit the dancefloors this music as all the possibilities of being mixed by the most genuine guys. I listen so many strange and different things but in the end it's the simplicity and good taste that moves me... this is the strongest example of subtleness. The Tiger Stripes remix is more powerful, with more boost. Nevertheless the melody remains as it was and the basic feelings are also there. So if you want to play this Ep on the decks you might choose this remix... it's as good as the first but with more intensity. You can see the quality of the remixer in this one. Why? Cause he remixed but he kept the main arguments there, so it's a perfect one! Released by Aus Music, it's already one of the Ep's of the year... Two great musics, choose your favorite and don't stop listening to it... see you all next week!

Popof - Summer on Mars Ep

Hi guys. It's time to talk about one of the biggest promises in the future of minimal world. Despite his "eastern" name, Alexander Paounov is from Paris and I can say to you that all of his releases are very good. This Ep starts with a f*ckin "Bitchy Groove", a pure minimal delicious music full of ups and downs and non stopping rhythm. A track directly produced to fulfill the dancefloor needs! In the B side we have two melodic tracks. Both of them are capable to destroy a life of deep strong feelings. "Toxic Love" is an Oxia track, if I may say so... it has the intensity, the seduction and the variance of emotions. Brilliant! "Summer on Mars" keeps the things directed to the soul. I love this one, it reminds me beginning of all this musical traditions. It's not very demanding but it has a pure melodic harmony - trancy stuff - that delighted me in every way it could. 3 Brilliant tracks to mark our first post dedicated to mr. Popof. Kreon and Lemos - Lookooshere

Resopal Red series are back, this time with something completely different. They brought Markos Spanoudakis - Kreon - and George Laimos - Lemos - to their cabins and they managed it pretty good. A side presents the most deep solid music made by these Greek guys. The amazing piano in the track is capable to bring you the most exquisite nostalgic feelings you can imagine. A weird track, but very very pretty. "Lyly Peeptoes" in the b side reminds me those great Saint Germain tracks. Jazzy deep house at it's best perfect to be listened in Luciano or Ricardo Villalobos set's. "Stalega" is also a great groove with a fine percussion, finishing this album beautifully. This is minimal art, in a total new musical style. It couldn't be forgotten here in the mnmland. Hope you like it, i sure did!

Jichael Mackson - Same Same But Different

Boris Steffen aka Jichael Mackson - Berlin based - begins the year with "Same Same But Different". Based on low synths and subtle construction changes during long musics (more than 12 minutes each) this Ep reminds me Villalobos finest productions. "Flatscreen" is the dance floor track, it doesn't stop growing and going to everywhere it can in a long round of deep minimality. This is one of the reasons why i like this kind of music so much. It just gets so minimal that it becomes deranged! The "1000bugz" appeared and we are fortunate people for listening them. This one is even deeper, has a nice low Goa melody along with it in the beginning but then, the bugs are released and pure low(!) flying instinct enters... Like I usually say in this kind of releases, this is not an Ep for everybody, just for those who like it simple and minimal! Released by Stock 5

Kolombo - Realistic

One of my favorite producers from last year is back! The Belgium Based artist Kolombo brought us a huge Ep based on deep grooved music! In matter of facts, i had to lower the bass level of my sound system cause the dub tune is very demanding. This guy always bet on alternative things inside his area. "Realistic", the first music of this release is perfect. Great rhythm, perfect bass line and cool flow, beginning till the end... Cass was invited to do the remix and the result was nice. The bassed music turns into electro minimal style, it's not so powerful but is surely a tripped and funky one. I wasn't expecting so much of this remix cause it changed the original completely but is pretty good. The last music of this Ep is "Indigo"... and like the name says, this one moves into different horizons. At the very best level of guys like Superpitcher or Michael Mayer, Kolombo produced a kind of melancholic dark track that is able to change your emotional feelings in just a second. Listen and get destructed by it! To be released by BluFin Records next monday (21 of Januray)! Absolutely insane

Alex Tsiridis - Rubber Suit

After Mihalis Safras, Trapez Records continues to bet on Greek producers! This time invited Alex Tsiridis and the result couldn't be better. As himself says, due to his young age he is still exploring sounds as you may notice on "Rubber Suit". A track full of different spaces that don't stop growing and growing 'till it develops to a tremendous groove. The wicked bass line melts me down completely. In matter of facts, this music is one of my favourites at the moment... it's completely neurotic and i like it that way. "Suasion" doesn't go as far as the other one but it's also very good! Again deep percussions and nice inputs during the construction. The quality of production is awesome but i think that's because it's Trapez and not an ordinary label. It will be for sale in the 11 of February, it's another promo that will be a hit when it reaches the stores
